Good Shot, R-26 every place I look it's on back order, or they just don't have R-26, would like to have some to try. Rio7

The 6 mm Br site has some loads for the heavier bullets but it was pre-Reloder 26. It works great in the standard .243 and I can't wait to trying on my next one a 6 mm AI. I think 3300 might be doable with 105s but I will probably hunt with 95 grain Noslers as I stocked up on those. Mine is 1 in 8 twist and I am curious if it will stabilize the 115s.

I'm running 47.0gr R-26 in std 243, stock adl 24" with the Hornady 105 bthp and Amax in Win brass with 210M. Both shoot just below 3100, with the Amax a hair faster and a hair more accurate. I'd be running 26 in an AI too, with the heavies.

I used the Amax load on my deer last year. It was a bit softer than I expected. Shots were just over 400, and it took 3 to put him down. Only 2 made it through the on-side ribs and neither made it through the offside ribs. Slightly quartering away, big-bodied muley.

Anyone got loads with 105-110g bullets and H4350? I'm stocked up on that powder. Also have heaps of H4831SC.

While I'm at it, what is a good fire forming load using 90g bullets?

44gr of H4350 works well. You could go a bit higher, but 44gr usually shoots awesome.

37gr of IMR4350 has worked well for me with 87gr FF loads.

Thank you Jordan. I suspect I'll be able to interchange the IMR data with the H version for less-than-full-house loads.

While the thread is still going, I have a general question about fire forming loads: Am I better loading as close to high working pressures as case capacity of the unformed brass will allow, or going for medium, middle of the road loads?

The reason I ask is that I intend to (for the most part) fireform while culling feral pigs, goats and such, so ideally want healthy muzzle velocities and good accuracy too. I'm not to excited about shooting for the sake of forming cases only; I might as well be shooting at the real thing.

I'll be using some PPU / Prvi 90g SP bullets for these culling / forming loads. I would like to think I'd get about 3100fps or so. How would I go using a max load of H4350 for the SAAMI 243 Win as a forming load, looking for that kind of speed.

(Sorry I have re-read my post and it's a little all over the place. Hope it makes sense.)

Max SAAMI .243 Win loads work fine for FF in an AI chamber. Think factory ammo.

In multiple AI chambers (one a 243AI), I've simply taken book max loads for a given bullet/powder, loaded to a slight-kiss OAL and formed both on targets and game. All of them have been very accurate loads, killed lots of stuff, and formed nicely.

I forgot one obvious source of load data. Just use 6mm Remington data as a starting point the .243AI and 6mm Rem. have almost identical case capacities.

Works well with already formed brass.

I’m running fairly mild loads in my new 243AI compared to many of the above.

Using 105 Hdy BTHPs I’m loading either 43g of H4350 or 47g of H4831SC, both for approx 2950fps in the 21”bbl. This is with WW brass.

With the 107 SMK which seems to generate a little less pressure, accuracy has been best at 48g of H4831SC. Also around 2950fps.

Looks like a bit more speed is possible especially with double based powders.

The fire forming loads I ended up running 46g of H4350 with the 90g soft points . Speed was around 3150fps.

All my loads as above use CCI 200 primers and are kissing the lands. Barrel is a 1-7” Hardy - a new brand to me. Shoots very nicely.

My heavy 243AI sees the most use. First barrel went at 2500 rounds and I ran 1 load for most of those.

Lapua brass
210m's
moly'd 105VLDs
44.5 gr of R-17 for 3250 in a 24" rock

The current barrel is another 24" rock and gets 3250 with 44gr of '17 and moly'd 105 VLD's.

This barrel has about 1500 through it now and I'm down to about 350 105 VLD's in my stash. Im going to switch to the 108ELD when these are gone

Anybody successfully shooting 105-108s in a 9.125 twist barrel? If so, what's your load?

You might try 41.5 gr. IMR 4350 with 105 Scenar, works real well in 9.25 twist here at sea level. Rio7
