You mean the scopes where the guys used the Horus reticles for holdover, because Leupold's schitty adjustments weren't consistently working?

Looks like a Weaver Grand Slam mated with some $30 Chinese airsoft scope. It'll look ok on an AR, but will sure ugly up a blue/walnut gun. I guess this is the way everything is going now. Tactical, black, and plastic.

The name comes across as cheap and cheesy to me. The looks, eh. Certainly no worse than an SWFA with those circus knobs. The real question is did they change the internals?

Maybe, but it's puzzling how they seem Hell bent on changing the stuff people always seemed to like about their products. Can't imagine they'd gotten a lot of complaints about how their scopes looked. The money they spent on "style" could have gone towards something meaningful.

They probably changed the adjustment housing because different design and/or manufacturing methods made it less expensive. I have been told the glass is the same as the VX-2's but because the R&D and initial manufacturing costs have now been paid for, they can sell them for less. It appears the street price of the Freedoms will be about what the VX-1's were. I'm not sure I'll like the "Tri MOA" reticles, they look a little busy to me.

And yeah, the Freedoms are a kind of clunky looking.........

I swapped for a rifle that had an old Vari-X II 3-9x40 on it last fall. I had no intention of using the scope on anything, so I decided to give it to a friend whose cheap old Bushnell scope had gone tits-up on his .300 Weatherby. Before I could hand it off to him I found that the front ring of the objective had been loosened, so I figured it could use a tuneup and checkout at Leupold. I don't know what they found, but they sent me a VX-Freedom 3-9x40 in its place and that's what my bud is going to get. I'm going to help him mount it and sight it in, maybe next week, so I'll get some first hand experience with it. We'll see how it goes.

Well, one consolation- It doesn't look any less sleek than a Nightforce.

I ordered a 1.5-4 Pig Plex for one of my coyote calling rifles. I'll review it when I get it out hunting. I'm already using 1-4's in VariX-II, VX-II, VX-2 and VX-1 all in duplex also a Nikon and Weaver in that power range so I should be able to compare it

Folks don't want to spend a weeks wages on a nice looking rifle just to spend $300 on an optic that looks like it came from Kmart in a clamshell package.

If it tracks like a Weaver Grand Slam, then people will get over the looks.
