Anybody shooting these? How do they differ from a TTSX other than higher BC's? Not much of a description on Barnes' website...

I shoot the 145 lrx in a 7mm rem mag, killed a decent 6x6 elk with it this year. Didn't recover the bullet but it worked great he went down on the spot. To me they’re just a TTSX with a higher BC as you said. They’ve got a sleeker nose, longer boattail & are supposed to open at a little lower velocity than the TTSX, 1600 vs 1800 I think.

I have not seen anything on minimum velocity performance so I can’t help there. Running the numbers for the .308 168 TTSX vs the 175 LRX, there was not enough difference due the lower velocity of the 175 gr in .300 Weatherby for me to work up new loads. In the 7mm, I think I might favor the 145 LRX for higher BC and downrange performance if I ever use up all the 150 TTSX I have on hand. That said, I don’t shoot past 400 yards, mostly under 300 so the BC is not a huge issue for me. Accuracy is paramount and the TTSX has worked fine for me.

Your rifle can still like a TTSX over an LRX or vice versa even when they are in the same weight. Mine do.

127gr in factory loaded Barnes 6.5 lrx creedmoor.

Found in offside shoulder of #150 buck. Broke bone but didn’t exit.

I’ve shot two deer with those bullets. But fell in tracks.

I shot my Moose at 50 yds under the right eye with a 6.5 LRX at 3000 fps out of a 6.5-06. It went all the way down the neck thru the spine and I found it against the hide at the left shoulder. It had lost all of its petals One petal had penetrated the rig cage and poke a hole in the lung. I thought it was stellar performance. No tracking required.

Great bullets. At the same velocity as ttsx, they probably are "softer", made to expand well at longer range and slower speeds. I shoot the 175s in 300 mag., and was using 145s in 280 AI. I recently loaded some 139 LRX too. When the weather breaks I'll do a side by side comparison at the range. If the 139s shoot as good or better, I might switch over. I'm not really concerned about BC numbers for what I need.

They open up better than the TTSX at all ranges.

I visited with a Barnes tech last week concerning their anemic load data for the Swede..As I suspected it was all about liability issues with modern guns vs the 1896..I use the 127 gr LRX in my CZ-550 and load it several grs above their max via several powders with no pressure signs and great accuracy..Killed my Mule buck this year with the LRX over H4350 and broke both shoulders at a tad over 300 yds..They just work.

the 6.5 Barnes LR, 127g is a very, very accurate bullet and has been easy for us to tune in various calibers.

I bought a bunch of the 175 grain LRX bullets to shoot out of my unfired LAW .300 and hope they work as well as the other Barnes X bullets I have used since the mid 80's. I am really not convinced the boat tail plastic tipped bullets offer a real noticeable advantage over other bullets out to 400 yards. But, like many others, I fell for the sales pitch.

I like to think of it as an equal step between the standard TXS and the TTSX, and the Tipped TSX to the LRX.
In my experience the tipped versions open a bit more quickly and reliably, and the LRX go a step up from that.

I’ve just shot deers and pigs, not too many wild critters in these parts.

I have the 175 grain LRX bullet for use in an un-fired Legendary Arms Works .300 Win. Mag. I have used Barnes X bullets since they came out and like them. Barnes makes a 190 grain LRX .308 bullet that is not for sale except in loaded ammo.

So far almost all of the .338 250 and 225 grain X bullets and 180 X and 168 grain TTSX bullets we have shot through the moose, caribou and black bears my family has taken. So I guess it is not the end of the world if the LRX bullet opens up quicker and gives a bit less penetration.

They also make a 350 grain X bullet for the 45-70, but will not sell it to guys like me to load my own. Buffalo Bore sells loaded ammo with that bullet. I wish they would make all of their bullets available to the general public, frustrating to say the least.
