I thought you were probably referring to the NECO product. I'm not crazy about the black either. I usually end up getting it on my fingers and later my face during a match and I end up looking like a linebacker with the face paint. But, I haven't seen anything that works as well. Once you've broken in the action with the stuff, I "think" it gets burnished into the metal and you don't need much on the sliding surfaces. I still keep a sufficient amount on the lugs and cocking piece but wipe off the excess so it's not so bad. The carbon from my AR15s is worse as far as getting me dirty.

Yup.
Thats the one.
PS were the only ones I know of who actually tested for a reduction in cocking force.
TSI-301 runs all over everything and smells like citrus.
We use it on our Defiance 1000 yard BR guns and there scary slick.
I have had good luck with it on manner of bolt guns.
The gummier they are the better it works it seems..
It will change up the way the action "feels" and its not black.
Thats why I picked the second best one for slicking up a action according to the PS test..

Now I'm going to have to try some....
Liquid or aerosol? I'd lean towards liquid because every spray lube I've used goes all over hell.

I have used it both ways liquid and aerosol.
It still runs all over the place.
Now a days I buy the liquid and put it in a little spray bottle.
It don"t take very much.
If you do try it id be interested in hearing what you think of it.

For our 1000 yard BR guns we use a combination of TSI-301...runs,
And STP oil treatment. This stuff is like honey and stays where you put it.
Just a dab on the locking lugs and the primary extraction.
Never had a galled lug running this way.
Was never comfortable usuing STP on a hunting rig.
In colder temps I pass on the STP
A couple of my builds from 20+ years ago,,hunting rifles.. were finished with black teflon.
Black T is not the most durable of a finish. But teflon and TSI-301 is inhuman slick.
I have some newer builds that are finished with Duracoat.
The first one was Duracoat on the action and bolt and its good.
Later on the smith picked up slick Duracoat.. for internal gun parts.
This is with a PTG sized bolt...lesser clearence.. on a M700
TSI-301 on this one is excellent..

Tom,
A very relevant comment.
Can't help but notice the used gun market here in the US where sharp lands and grooves are easily seen, demonstrating that most riflemen will never fire 30,000 rounds in a lifetime.
Not a criticism, it is actually a shame. Rebarelling is where the fun really starts.
