I've ordered through JC Steel exclusively. Shipping is what usually kills you on ar-500 and JC Steel has that figured out.

Can you buy thicker steel locally any cheaper? I made mine out of 1” mild steel plate.

I build liners for sand and gravel hoppers out of 3/8” AR plate all the time at work. I think everyone here has targets at home they’ve cut out of scrap. I’ve got a life sized coyote. 257WBy won’t even scratch it at 100yds.

Friend of mine welded MRAP armor bodies. Brought some scraps home and the only thing that damaged it was a .257 Weatherby with Barnes bullets. Welded the bullets into it.
