I know it may be a little early but has anyone tried the new 85 gr .224 cal RDF bullet. I ordered a box from Midway and they should be here today or tomorrow, I plan on trying them in my 24 inch barreled Varmint AR, considering their weight I need to get as much speed as I can so will not be trying them in my 18.5 inch AR. I am assuming that these bullets will need slow burning powder such as A2520, CFE 223, Varget, BLC-2 or even Power pro 2000, I have a supply of all except Varget. Nosler has data but only for the 22 Nosler, why am I not surprised. If I don't wait for their data then will try on my own, thinking of trying A2520 and Power pro 2000, have data for 80 and 90 gr bullets for these powder, being I have a 5.56 chamber I believe I can safely drive these bullets to 2800/2850 fps in a 24 inch barrel, being I have only 1 in twist I need at least 2800 for stabilization and accuracy. If any one has a suggestion or load infor that worked well for you will appreciate any advice.

I won't screw around with them in a 223, but then I have a bolt 22.250, with a one in 7 twist, that is a good candidate
to try them out in.. thanks for the heads up.

They arrived just after I posted my thread, they were shipped Tuesday, three days from Missouri to Nevada, Weather permitting I may work up a load and give them a try Tuesday.

Look at TAC as well. I'm getting 2850 out of a 24" using 75gr Hornadys. i'm sure I can push them a bit harder too.

Worked up to 26.5 gr Alliant power pro 2000, 2710 is best I could do, no signs of pressure, talked to a Nosler tech, they may have data available by end of the week.
