I was looking at refinishing on old pre 64 Model 70 stock in a .270 FWT and would like to put on a nice red recoil pad. I see a lot of these on some of the Winchester made guns, and some customs Winchesters. Where can I find these red recoil pads? I have searched online. I have seen the Galazan old-style Winchester pads, which are classic looking, but a little hard. I have also seen the Decelerator old English D752B, which is more of a dull red. Isn't the pad below something different? Can you buy the modern red Winchester Decelerators that Winchester installs?

I've used the red decelerator on 6 of my pre 64 Model 70's and it's just the right shade of red, not dull, it looks about like the one pictured. I agree the Galazan is too hard.

I think it's a little "redder" in real life.

+1 on the Decelerator pad, I have had these installed on my pre'64 M/70's that had been previously equipped with other pads. They are a far better more effective pad than the original or Galazan reproduction pad, no comparison between the two.

Thanks all. Much appreciated. That Decelerator pad is "redder" that it shows up in the online pics.

If the stock still has the original aluminium butt plate i would leave it alone. Unaltered Fwt. stocks are worth $400.00 or so....

No, it already has an older Pachmayr on it.
