It's interesting that those SRAC303 plates carried over. I have one on a rifle from around the same time. We need to collect some data on what serial range these show up on. Maybe they found a box full rat holed away and decided to use them up?
Anyone have a rifle with one on it? Need a serial number.

There was an 1899 at the March 2013 Julia's auction that had that BP.

Rick, I went and checked my other early rifles,1895 and 1899 ,and i had a 1895 with a flat steel shotgun style buttstock, and an early 1899f saddle ring carbine with the flat steel type shotgun butt. my first rifle with the standard style hard rubber buttplate is the 54.000 one but thats the thick one.The first normal hard rubber buttplate is on a early 1899H. Is it possible that the SRA 303 buttplate was the only early hard rubber buttplate until 1904-1905? Don

Possible as there was a statement in the Perris letters about the breakage in fitting non metal plates.
SRAC 51xxx Thick 77xxx Thin 116xxx (earliest 1899-H I have)
When did the thin rubber plate start? The first 1899-H in my data that is not engraved is in the 69xxx range. Not many H's till the .22HP came out. I guess I need to look at some log sheets.

Man, some beautiful pictures, thanks so much for sharing!

51261, 1899-A-SR, .303 SAV, SRAC plate, late 1904-early 1905 production.
This period of production looks like they were way ahead on serial numbering receivers as the production dates in 1905 jump all around.
Rory found an ad stating that the 1899-H would be shipping the first of 1906 vs 1905. That would put the H starting around 67000-68000.
Anyone with an 1899-H earlier than Loggah's 76456???

My 25-35 with high grade wood and checkering isn't far behind Don's, serial #79728. It's in my book. Don't have time to post a pic now. David
