The evil Chukar and Valley Quail.
[Linked Image]

Breeder got ahold of me last week to infom me the pup has a hernia. Three options were, A) Wait on next litter for other dog, B) pick up dog as scheduled with a $100 discount, or C) wait and extra 5-6 weeks for pick up while he had the hernia repaired. I chose C. Hopefully it was the right choice.

That sure sounds like the right choice to me. Get him all fixed up; he is a great looking guy!!

What type of hernia? I think you made the right call also. Good luck to you and your pup. - tnscouter

Not sure the type. He was born with it, whatever that means.

What a little darling he is!

The most common hernia in young pups is an umbilical hernia, it should be surgically repairable.

My new female pup had an inguinal hernia, but our vet advised us to wait until she was around 3 months old before scheduling the surgery. By the time 12 weeks rolled around, it had healed itself.

Quick update on Trigger. Doing check cord work and obedience training here daily. He is a little hard headed but totally manageable. Coming along just fine. I'll take some pics shortly.

Hard-headed comes naturally to the breed. It channels into "determination" eventually...a good thing.

We NEED pics!

Here are a few of our family hike into Marlette lake, a couple miles east of Lake Tahoe. 9.5 miles round trip, no leash no bears no problems.

Not on this trip but have in past excursions. Humped my BPS 20 gauge in there over 16 miles one day last year without seeing one. When you fish Hobart in the spring, you can hear them drumming all over the damn place.
