i put this on the general forum, but thought it belonged here.
somewhat of the irony is that all of arizona elk date back to the 30's when they were imported by railroad car from wyoming.

The original transplant to Arizona is a good story in itself.

It is a great story and an important step for the conservation and hunting communities.

Also, it beats the dickens out of transplanting wolves throughout the Western States. Maybe the greenies on the East Coast might change their tune if we sent them a few of those.

Wonder if we could trade an eastern state for some whitetails or turkeys or grouse in return for sending them a couple hundred wolves?

Quite a few of the elk in KY had ancestors that were born in UT. They were traded for turkeys. I used to drive by the catch corrals during graduate school. One of these years I need to make a trip to KY in September to hear them bugle there.
