Hey All...tried out one of my fav .308 loads in my #1 308 Anniv Model... WW cases 154gr...CCI BR2...50gr TAC..Barnes 130 TTSX @ 2.735 OAL...sighted in at 100 yds with some Barnes Factory 130 TTSX...those shot at 1.10"....not bad.... this load much better... the little black dot is where I held...Nightforce NXS Compact 2.5x10x42 with IMR reticle...of course I blew the fourth shot after looking at the 3 shot group thru my spotting scope..!!!!! Still the group is just about .6"..... Yeah.. this NO. 1 is a keeper.... Pete

Looks like a great load & hope you enjoy your Rifle. I just purchased one & picked it up last Friday from my FFL Dealer. When I got it home I removed it from box and could really look at it closely to admire its beauty.
Now I am ready to sell it for what I have in it. The Wood to Metal Fit is atrocious and I can't stand it.
After owning over 200 No1's in my lifetime but only 60 at one time in my collection I'm spoiled.
I'm going to sell this one and look for an earlier rifle that had the quality that i like.
If anyone is interested fell free to contact me, if no replies I'll put back on GB or GA

Must be a lot of variance. The 1V I bought last year was quite nice, aside from the stock finish being a bit thin and muddy-colored.
What fresh Hell is this?

HEY X1Proto...I too had one other Ruger #1...a 1975 VINTAGE 6MM REM... very plain wood...only paid $265 for it...it would NOT shoot worth a crap no matter what I tried... sold it for 8x what I paid in 2003....ok...I only owned that one..... but now...being a 308 loony...I just couldn't pass this one up...as long as i hold steady and squeeze the trigger it shoots into one hole...yeah...they do have less than desirable trigger pulls in this day and age... the fit of wood to metal is really good on mine...no complaints there....shot it today again...51 grains of TAC...BR2 primer...Starline case,new...Barnes 130TTSX @ 2.735OAL...5 shot group was 1.100" with 4 shots into .6"... speed was 3111 FPS on my LAB RADAR chronograph...YEAH...I'll hold steady and squeeze the trigger like I was taught 68years ago>>>!!!!!!!!! YMMV.......Luck of the DRAW..??????? Pete
