Same one as before

The stock ergs of the CZ 550 FS cause them to have the handling qualities of a 6' cedar fence post. If you want a sweet handling mannlicher stocked rifle find a Husqvarna. IMO, a mannlicher stocked rifle is a stalking rifle that has great balance and points like an upland bird shotgun.

This is a Husqvarna in 243. It handles and shoots as good as it looks.

Hard to get tired of looking at full stocked rifles.

This one is still missing a barreled action. 98 mauser, have action...project in progress...:)

Very light 24oz. The barrel channel measures 1/2" at the muzzle

I put this one in the fence post thread but, heck here it is again. Absolutely the smoothest action I've encountered! Now that load development has been completed the 3-9 will be replaced with a 1.5-5 Leupold or maybe a 2 3/4 or 3x.

I have to admit I've never understood the logic of a mannlicher stock..., extra wood, extra weight, short barrels, nobody puts their hand way out there anyway, do they? ..but they still look cool!

Probably an outgrowth of military cavalry carbines that originated in Austria/Switzerland to use as a climbing aid or walking stick for mountain hunting in steep terrain.

A lot of muzzleloaders had full length stocks so maybe a continuation of tradition. My fascination with them came from long ago when, as a kid, I watched a TV series called "Ramar of the Jungle". I saw my first "stutzen" then and the seed was planted. It was many years before I was able to get one.

I always thought that too until I started handling/shooting Steyr’s and while they do have extra wood they are much lighter than most wood stocked rifles - especially American ones (never did understand why the major companies didn’t remove more wood to make the stocks handle better?! The Ruger mannlicher stock rifles are a step in the right direction but could still stand to lose some significant wood.

Of course just my opinion but I like the styling of a well made mannlicher and 260Remguy probably has the reasoning right - when hunters actually walked to hunt instead of resting on there vehicle or other rest and shooting 1/2 mile+

I'm a sucker for full stocked rifles!

This is my 1952 Mannlicher in 257 Roberts. This one has put a bunch of deer in the freezer and is destined for my Grandson to enjoy.

My son with one of the bears he has taken with my old .308 Sako.

The vintage rifles certainly appear more svelte to my eye.

Am not a 99 fan but the 99 above is a keeper...have never seen a full stock 99 in the flesh.

The only full stock rifle I ever saw that I really liked was about 1953. Friend of mystep dad's came over with it Full stock Mannlicher in 6.5x52. Split bridge and the smoothest action I have even seen. Wish I could afford one! Forgot, butter knife bolt handle and double set trigger's!

Here is a manlicher stocked mauser ninety eight in 35 whelen, double set trigger. It was smithed by a local guy by the name of Wayne Barnett. I believe it was done in the seventies.
