The 16.5" Heavy Barrel sans sights...how good is is the 597? ...Certainly cheap at about $250

Appreciate any opinions on this rifle.

IMO a very Over Looked/Under rated rifle. The Heavy barrel model is often more accurate as they seem to balance/point better than the Sporter I own a 22 LR & 22 Mag and accuracy is very good with both.

Cons

There are not near the aftermarket items available as for the Ruger

Good Luck

I know they make aftermarket high capacity magazines for them. Used to see a fair amount of 597s for sale, but not much anymore.
