Sounds like Anchorage is your best market. Many parts of Alaska Tyvek is considered siding for a house and I've been in more than a few were the flooring consisted of painting the subfloor.

And a blue tarp roof!

Nothing wrong with a nice enamel paint on OSB. Two coats though.

If time allows, I like to use screws to to keep things tight. I don't really care for the pneumatic spike gun and their wirey fasteners. #10's make fine toenails for frames though.

Exactly. I've always tried to push for a good deck paint for wet areas, mud rooms and bathrooms, even used it in bedrooms with a center area rug.

Even running paint over CDX after filling cracks and knots with Evercoat's Home Fix. A smooth and painted floor makes for a great surface, and maintance is cheap and easy. Obviously.

Just don,t use a solid color deck paint on decks here or they will flake and bubble!!! Use a penetrating deck stain clean it and re stain it every couple of years. Builders need to understand Alaska conditions in building a home here.

You can see most of a homes problems here in the winter! Also most cant recognize good building ground.

I've switched to stain almost exclusively on exteriors for those very reasons. The weather, sun or rain, will fade stain over time, but it's a simple matter to deal with. No blisters or pealing, so no scrapeing is needed before recoat in a few years.

Residential in anchorage the two big players are spinell and hultquist. As a framer expect to make 20 an hour no bennies. They do a mix of spec and custom houses. Mathews Homes does more custom. All of them have the pic of the litter. Gotta basically know someone to get hired. Im a contractor who doesnt advertise etc and i get 20 to 30 emails a week unsolicited by guys looking for jobs. Its tough out there and will be another year before it gets better in the anchorage area.

Fairbanks has a lot of work. Are you open to going up there?
