What are you guys using to seat your bullets? I tried using a 223 seater, but the bullets were contacting the neck of the die before it touched the stem. I had to back the die way off and screw the stem almost all the way down. Out of the first 30 rounds my OAL was +/- .005 round to round. Is there a better way without having to spend big money?

For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

I bought a 6x45 sizer and I have a 223 type S. I was hoping not to have to buy a special seater. I just wondered if I was overlooking something obvious.

So I broke down and bought a Redding type C set for 6x45. Guess what? The seater will not seat a 70gr BT deep enough to fit an AR magazine. (2.260) mad mad mad

Call Redding. There is a number on the top of the stem. They can send you one which will seat deeper. I ran into this problem with my 221 fireball dies.

When I bought my first 222, I happened on to a set of RCBS competition dies at a yard sale for cheap. I really like their seating die and bought the parts to change it out to seat 17 and 6mm bullets. Quick to change and the opening on the side of the die makes handling those little 17 bullets much easier.

Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.
