I bought a couple 1894's the other day.
A 45 and a 44 mag.
The 45 seems just fine. Been blasting away no problems.
I picked up the 44 this afternoon to have a closer look at it. Butt stock seemed pretty loose.
Took the butt off and there are a two bad cracks in the wrist/tang mortise.
With the bankruptcy I am hesitant to send it back to Marlin!
Should I try to fix it myself or maybe order an aftermarket stock set?
Thanks.

I did call them.
No one would answer the phone!
It was not a "wait for an operator" deal....it was no one is here....dont call back.
Must have something to do with the bankruptcy?

Wow, that sucks. Good ole' Remlin strikes again.
You know, it seems I remember seeing a real Marlin 44 posted for sale around here recently. hmmm....
Whoops, nevermind. Appears it just sold this morning.

If the crack is accessible in the interior of the stock, I would advise you to cut a small grove spanning the crack and glass bed a threaded rod across the crack. You should then be good to go. Phil
