What's that noise?

I think its the fast twist .17 Creedmoor screaming down the mountain and into our rifles!!!!!

Just checked back in on this thread.
Please don't sell 25 Creedmoor short. He posts very little, but it comes with vast experience.

I can't see any advantage to a .257" bore cartridge built on the Creedmoor format, as there aren't any long, VLD, .257" bullets that could take advantage of the shorter Creedmoor case in a short action.

The better short action .257" bore cartridge is, in my mind, the proven performer 25 Souper.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the .25 Creedmoor if for no other reason than the new .257 VLD type bullets that would surely accompany it.

For whatever reason I prefer short actions. Highest velocity in a .25 wasn’t the goal for me. Highest velocity that a case will give with good accuracy is..

For myself, I think the .25 Souper, or something combining the shoulder diameter( .462" ), and neck angle ( 30 degree) of the CM case design , with the .308 case length would suit the .25 caliber in a SA magazine quite nicely. No real need to sacrifice case length with .25 caliber bullets designed to work in the 10" twist.

I've gotta think that the SA .25-284 is the peak of that hill.

There is definitely something to be said about the benefits of starting with Lapua CM parent brass though.

Man if they neck that 250 savage case up to 30 caliber. I would be all over it, I buy a rifle chambered in it today..

Magazine length can be a handicap for a 25-284 with some bullets longer than the 110 grain AB.

I'd bet a 25 Creedmoor would do even better than a 25 WSSM.

Boy,way ahead of most of you guys. I use 6.5 CM brass, run them through my 250 AI dies, powder and shoot...and the headstamp says Creedmoor.

What is the rifle chambered for ? I'm assuming .250 AI

- Lots of dimensional differences there - body taper, shoulder diameter ( .462" vice .454" ) , angle ( 30 vice 40 degrees) , location

Yes, 250AI, m700 SA,1x10, 24", Douglas. I`ve got two so chambered..had both for some years now. Forming cases can be a pain,COW always works tho, and the 6.5 brass now helps, but the shoulder still needs blowing out to 40 degrees.
Remington must of had a run of 250 brass this past year, unusual, so I picked up 200 pieces, weight sorted and formed. Set for a few years now.

A .25 Creedmore would be cool, and maybe it would start a .25 caliber revival. But, like all the short mags that followed the success of the .300 WSM, it would have a rough road to travel to do so. I jumped on the new cartridge bandwagon once, when I bought a .260. I rebarreled that rifle a few years ago, at about 3000 rounds through it, as I got a little enthusiastic with it on a prairie dog hunt and shot it hot enough to hurt the throat. I considered going to 6.5 Creedmoor, but I already had dies and brass, and then I remembered....I can shoot a 129 grain, 0.485 BC bullet from it and it goes fast enough that I can't see it leave the barrel and it kills deer easily at 300 yards or a bit further without any problems. I went with the .260, it will do the job.

Did you check out the neck walls? It has been a while , but the last RP 250 brass I got had crappy necks.

Yes, surprisingly consistent...in fact better than some of the Hornady 6.5 brass I checked. Of the 200, I junked 20 or so.

When did you get yours?

I can't say exactly, but it has been over six years or so I believe. I'm glad they're making better brass now.

I used to use a bunch of RP for my 308 loading before it went to pot and I moved to Lapua at the time.
