Hi all

I have a new 22 Springer and I need to get some pellets to try in it.
I'd like to know what your "go to" pellets are so I don't waste time and money finding out what it likes.
All I know so far is that it seems to like the 14.3 Crosman domed hollow points, and doesn't really like some old Crosman Copperhead wadcutters I turned up.
Ill probably have to mail order them so availability isn't really an issue.

I've like the Crosman 14.3 as well but the JSB Exacts have shown a bit better accuracy in my springer.

If you're up to working it out, the Pellet Sampler from Straight Shooters will give you plenty of options to find which pellet works best in your rifle. Highly recommended!

I hadn't seen one that extensive before, and with some top shelf pellets.

I'm still looking for recommendations, but that is very interesting.

I use the Crosman Premier Ultra Mag 14.3 grain pellets i my .22 Nitro Piston. It's basically just a domed pellet without the little dimple that the hollowpoint has.

I get them at Tractor Supply for $7 for 500. They work for my needs. They punch holes in stuff.

I keep considering ordering a few tins of 16 or 18 grain pellets, but have never got around to it.

Some people say that heavier pellets can wear out or break a spring. But I don't know if it's true. I have a little low powered Daisy spring rifle in .177 that I shoot 10 grain pellets all the time through and it hasn't hurt it yet that I can tell.

The Crosman premier ultra mag domed pellets shoot very well in 2 of my 3 .22 cal. pellet rifles. My steroid Benjamin doesn't care for them and does much better with JSB Exact Jumbo's.

I almost bought some RWS Superdome 14.5's today but 500 would have run me $20.
That didn't compare well with the 8.3 gr .177 Superdomes & 8.2 gr Meisterkugeln's at $8 per 500 so I bought some of those and left the .22's behind.
Is that kind of price difference normal, or did I just get lucky with the .177's?

JSB 16 or 18 grainers.

The Crow Magnum pellets sure grew up my Sheridan .20/5mm rifle. I never checked them for accuracy against the old semi-pointed Sheridan pellets in the yellow box, but I can tell you that they sure seem to hit harder.

Have good luck with the Crosman 14.3 HP's. They are cheap and available in many places, also a plus.

My "go to" stuff for a 22 cal. Benjamin Trail is usually the Crosman Premier domed pellets which are about 14.3 gr.;, but it also likes the Crosman 14.3 gr. "piranha" hollow points and I sometimes run the Crosman 16.7 gr. Powershot Penetrators. Those three have become my basic "go to" stuff with the Crosman domed pellets getting the nod most often.

I have done pellet testing for a couple dozen air guns over the last two years. PCP rifles generally prefer JSB pellets. Only one springer , HW30S .22 shoots best with JSB. I've had better results with more cylindrical .22 pellets like HN Terminator, Benjamin Destroyer, HN Sniper Medium HN Crow Magnum.

For me, JSB Exacts (16 or 18g) and H+N FTT 14.6 shoot well in all my .22s. The cheap Crosmans 14.3s will shoot well a lot of times, but there will always be fliers, and some undersized. Unless just shooting tin cans inside 30yds or so, I view them as false economy.
