Do you have the COL?

I'm planning a 338 Federal and am compiling loads from the site for comparison.

The rifle used in Africa was a Kimber 84M with a 22” barrel. I did have a Ruger, which wore two different barrels, and now the 84M has a 23” PacNor.

I’m pretty sure I ran all TTSXs at 2.815” as the max mag length is 2.82. A lot of jump (.15+”). With AA2230 they shot really, really well. I really can’t imagine anything performing better than either the 185 or 160 TTSX.

I harvested a whitetail last fall with a 160 ttsx impact velocity in the 2700 range. The bullet went through about 30" of the deer including hide 3 times. Recovered off side hind quarter a perfect ttsx shape. Tried to post an image from my phone and can't. All I have ever done is crimp in the shortest channel. I will send the pics to a phone if you send me a PM.

That bullet is impressive.

Good luck and shoot straight

prm,

Thanks. I have been researching your posts. You have done a lot of good work with the 338 Federal. I'm looking hard at a rebuild of a M70 EW. Still in the research stage.

Got it covered with the 22 LR, 30-06, and 12 gauge.
The rest are just for fun.

They are so slick and I like a hard bullet pull on ignition. I never killed anything with that load though, so can't say. I may try it later in my 338WM just to see if it likes it, can't imagine a better deer combo for longer shots here. Good luck to you.

Hi Jim, Where did you find this load? I haven't been able to find any data for the 160 TTSX with TAC. Thanks.

What kind of velocities are you getting with TAC and the 160?
