Been running 26.0grn. LeveRevolution, Remington Brass, Fed. 205M's in my 16" AR.
The last 5 I fired went into 7/8" at 100 yards (3 were in 3/8'). Rolling 2700 and change out of my 16" Black Hole Barrel.
It's a Wylde chamber, so if you're running a bolt gun, I'd start a couple grains under that.

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

There must be 1 idiot out there someplace that would do that.

Maybe he will chime in here?

Right here buddy. My son and I have taken three whitetails and one 250 lb wild hog with this bullet, all one shot kills and none of them traveled over 50 yards from where they were shot.

I've since switched to the Hornady 55 grain GMX bullet in front of 25 grains of H335. I prefer this bullet to the 75 gr. HPBT because of the complete pass throughs we get with them. My son and daughter both took a deer each last fall. Really liked the performance and great blood trails left by this bullet.

x 2...

If someone didn't do it or ever try it, it must not be able to be done...

Loaded up some of these 75 BTHP, with a charge of Unique for a young Scout
locally, a couple of seasons ago.. a bolt action 223 was all his Granddad had...

and that was the box of bullets they picked up.. on sale...

Boy must have not known what he was doing.. that blacktail pretty did a bang flop...

I use the 75 gr Hornady HPBT with 22.6 gr of of XBR 8208 out of a Stevens 200 .223 with a 1/9 twist. This loads yields me 2700 fps.

My 1-9 twist shot them ok but not the best, my 1-7 twist barrel shot them really well. CCI 450 primer and 26.5 grains of AA2520. Killed one doe with it but would take either the 60 gr. Hornady SP or the HP version over it.

I've had very good experiences with the Hornady 68's and 75's on deer, as has my brother and his youngest son. No huge-bodied deer, but a few in the 220-230lb class, and several younger meat deer that were 200lb or less. Broadside shots through ribs, through shoulders, or through neck, ranges 80-180yds Exits every time, even through both shoulders on a bigger deer. Not all of the bullet exited, but there was definitely an exit. Bullets break ribs, punch through vertebrae, bust through shoulder blades, exit. Damage looks like a tough bullet in a larger caliber, with lots of soft tissue trauma, but less bruising. I repeat: exits every time.

In a few different rifles, the 68 is loaded in Fed or LC brass with 205M primers, and 27-27.5gr CFE, for speeds 3050-3100. The 75 is loaded with 26.5gr CFE in same brass and primer for right under 3000fps. Note that these are not loaded at 223 Rem pressures, and all 3 guns are bolt guns with 22" bbls. No issues with pressure, BTW, just not sticking to 55k limit.

Get off the couch and live a little. You might learn something.

The 105gr 6mm Hornady HPBT has worked okay for me on deer and pigs so far. It's not designed for such, but it works. The 75gr .224 version is bound to be just a bit less of the same.

My Howa Mini 1-9 twist loves them, I'm loading with a Lee Loader and scoop and found both AR2206H and AR2208 shoot to the same POI, less than 1" at 100m but very mild and cheap loads.
The Hornady Superformance Match print right down around a 1/2", I save those for my hunting trips and use my reloads for pest control around the farm.
