OFS!

None of those are popular, either.

They worked insanely well, though. I believe the .338 Federal would have worked just as well, or better.

What could be a sadder way to end a life than to die having never hunted with great dogs, good friends and your family?

The original question was”is the .338 Federal popular popular?”. And the overwhelming answer is no. It’s not a question of “ will it work?”. Of course it will work. So will at least a dozen other useless cartridges. Weatherbys, Lazzoronis, various wildcats, Ackely Improved, etc., and a host of other junk will all work- but they are not “popular” and offer no significant gain over the favorites....an animal can’t tell the difference between a 150grbullet moving at 2700fps and one moving at 2800fps.

They don’t need a new thought. They have plenty of ingenious American telling them a magic bullet traveling at 2800 fps is MUCH better than the same bullet traveling 2750fps, especially if said magic cartridge is .10” shorter than standard loads and uses 2 grains less powder. African PH’s tend to shoot animals and not chronographs and paper.
