My fist stab at the 150 eld x in the 7mm08 was with hunter and standard primers. Best group was book max of 49.5 at 2.8 coal which printed a little over a inch at 2720 with a es of 4. I found some Reloder 17 I’m going to try, and maybe try a mag primer with the hunter and play with the seating depth.

Were you able to find some biggame powder? I shot 162 hornady btsp out of mine they shot very well, but my concern was/is velocity. I should revisit that bullet weight in the eld-x and chrono it along with the 150gr eld-x.

Yep, I bought 2 pounds at Sportsman's the other day...

Nope, 150 only. I load the 162 in a couple 7 Rem Mags. And yes to the Magnum primer with Big Game. I like the additional velocity I get with the 150 over the 162. So far so good.

I’m probably taking my model 70 featherweight in 7-08 going to use 150gr eld-x for my sheep hunt in the Tok management area (TMA) I’m seating my bullets to 2.150 BTO.

My bto is 2.183", my nephew's is 2.156".

46.2 grains Big Game, WLRM, 2795 fps.

New to reloading here, what would be a good replacement for Big Game? I’m loading 7mm08, Kimber Montana that shoots well, I have 150g ELDX and 140g TTSX, CCI 200 but can pick up magnum primers. I can get Hunter, but read it’s too slow? Where’s a good place to start? Or should I suck it up and pay the Hazmat fee to ship Big Game to me in Kodiak?

Don’t discount hunter or rl19. I’m playing hunter and the 150’s. Max book load was giving me 2720 out of a 22” tube. I’m going to play with mag primers and seating depth. I also have rl17 to try. Ramshot powders are scarce around here.

To add: my brother took his -08 to the range Friday, shot four bullets (see above load, 2.156") into one little hole at 100 yards, sent me a pic of the target, and put the rifle away.

Nope.

Call Hornady. Or work up to my recipe.

They've got three 150's with Big Game listed.

Maxes from 44.5-46.2 with high bearing surface bullets. Bet you could go a bit higher with a low bearing surface ELDX while working up...

I'm not good enough yet, I always feel better if I call.

I worked up to 46.2 gr, got a full case and the velocity I wanted so I stopped there and played with seating depth.

Here’s the Superlite:

My main shooter, I named her Red Death. Same load, three shots.

This is my brother's target, he's shooting a Superlite with an LA bolt stop, although he doesn't need it. His rifle found accuracy at 2.156" from the ogive, which is within 7mm-08 magazine length. Same recipe as mine, just a different OAL.

Three shots, not bad.
