Its getting hot here. My question is for those that have lived overseas in hot climates. How did the locals cope with it? Did they only move in the morning and evening, wear loose cotton clothing? I remember a scene in Laurence of Arabia, where a guy used his blanket to make shade during the hottest part of the day. I'm sure a tropical setting would be even worse.

Acclimatization. Seen them dudes wearing black suits and never drop a bead of sweat. Meanwhile we were leaving foot prints in the damned asphalt.

Yep. And, remember this, every single one of 'em is scheming to kill you. Bet on it.

The ones with a lot of cash ie kuwaitis split and head to Europe when it's balls hot..
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

Same in South America. Natives down there didn't sweat a drop, and watched in amazement as I could wring a rag that wiped my brow and it would drip. They certainly are adapted to their environment, but probably wouldn't fare well with our winters. They were cold and shivered on cloudy or rainy days.

Southern Afghanistan in the summer is like living in a hair dryer on high heat. Iraq is bad too but not as bad as southern Afghanistan. It’s a miserable place.

Don't know about the locals but my hired man never did like air conditioning.
When I get to bitching about the heat I think about the time he spent over there.

Never been to the Middle East... I was stationed in panama back in the early 80's, a cold weather front came through temp was in the high 60's. I remember the local radio and tv stations running info commercials telling the homeless to find shelter. I remember people dying because of the "cold" Then in the "dry" season, the fields would spontaneous combust and catch fire, locals would let it burn as, "it all grows back next wet season".
