Recent communication with John indicates that he will be distributing his book in the U.S. through a warehouse in Sealy, TX.
Details will be available soon...but I believe there will be a couple ways to pay for the book, which will then be shipped from Texas.
The first shipment of books has not yet arrived, but once they do I will post it up, along with details on where to go to order.
My offer still stands - I will pick up books in Sealy and mail them to members, should the other methods prove difficult. I want to make it easy for folks to get their copies.
Prices and availability of paperback, hardcover and limited edition hardcover will also be communicated once those details are in hand.
This has been a long time coming! Besides the usual "Africa drama", John's editor fell ill with appendicitis and had to go under the knife right about the time they were finishing up.
I hope to be back soon with more information!

John sent me an advance electronic copy to read and it is a great narrative on his life and times. HIGHLY recommend it

Anyone who PM'd me previously saying they wanted a book - please either post here or send me another PM as my PMs got nuked (probably by me...typical old 'puterphobe.

Recent post seen on another forum, regarding John's book "Facing Down Fear":
I received an advanced copy for review purposes. It contains great stories, and John is a very good writer, with a sense of humour, so I was VERY impressed.
I look forward to seeing the print copies, because the photos are also outstanding.

I keep checking to see if it is on Amazon, no dice. I figure it would be easier for you that way, seeing I am from Canada. I also can't see how to order from John's website. Shipping would probably be a bear for cost.
So I will trouble you Tarbe, as there seems no other option. Let me know what is easiest for payment, considering I am in a foreign country. Paper cover please.
IT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE OTHER THAN WHAT TARBIO HAS SAID.

I have you down on my spreadsheet for a soft cover.
You won't be able to order a book off John's website until the books are in Texas and ready to go. Then a link to order will be put up.
If you order on John's site, the order will make its way to TX and will be shipped from the warehouse.
Anyone can order from John's website once the link is up. I am just trying to spread the word on a few select websites and make it as easy as possible for folks to get the book.

Tim, please put me down for a soft cover copy as well. I will be ordering the hard cover when it becomes available.
Will do sir!
I am already planning to pick up 7 of the limited edition hard covers (and counting) so if you want me to make it 8, I can put you down for a hard and a soft.
FYI - John said the delay in getting the books to the states is problems at the printer getting the hard cover done - they are waiting to ship everything together.

Please add me to the list for a soft cover. Will John have books available at DSC for sale and autographing ? If so then I will pick up a copy there. Thanks,Porsche73

Yes, John will be at DSC and he will be signing books.
You can purchase there, or ahead of time. Let me know if you want me to add you to my list.

Highly recommend the book. Had the good fortune to hunt with John this fall and brought a copy home. Highly recommend going to Zim to pick up your copy:)
Hi Tim please put me down for soft cover. Let me know when you want payment? Thanks Bill
Hi Bill
I added you to the spreadsheet.
Per John Sharp, the books should be in the warehouse in Texas this week.
Once I go pick up my first installment, I will start PM'ing members on my list (in roughly the order they placed their "order") with payment info, and to request shipping instructions.

I will be calling the Distributor tomorrow to try to set up a pick up time.
I will start by purchasing $3,000 worth or books and then PM'ing guys in the order that they appear on my list. I have a total of $6k worth of commitments from guys here and on two other websites.
As money comes in, I will ship!
It will take a couple working days after I get the books before I start shipping as I will need to secure mailers/flat rate envelopes.
Watch your PMs!

I am picking up the first $3k worth of books tomorrow.
Then I promptly leave town for 5 days.
I want to get postage info from the Post Office before I start soliciting money...want to make sure I have the number right. So I won't be home and ready to ship until late next week.
Here is the list I have for 24HCF folks:
@Fosteology 1 soft
@AB2506 1 soft
@10generation 1 soft
@test1328 1 soft
@RIO7 1 soft

@Orion2000 1 soft
@elkcrazy 1 soft
@muygrande1 2 soft, 1 hard
@colodog 1 soft
@Doc Rocket 1 Hard
@solrac13 1 soft
@65Jeffrey 1 soft
@rustyzipper 1 soft
@bapple 1 soft
Please PM me to confirm or change your order. I will reply back with address to send money, and actual amount, once I know postage.
Thanks,
Tim

We know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Went to the PO today and grilled the lady at the counter regarding my options for shipping dozens of these books.
She convinced me that the smallest padded media mailer would be best from a cost and security standpoint (the soft cover fits tightly in the mailer and doesn't shift around - therefore doesn't get a running start at a tear!).
So here are the official mailing costs:
CONUS and Alaska (really? Alaska costs the same as Texas?): $4.76
Canada: $17.59 (ouch! You Canadians are subsidizing the Alaskans!)
Hard cover books that need to ship are not going into mailer pouches...the edges on the book sleeve are too sharp (no pun intended) and I do not want to risk damage to a $250 book!
Hards will get wrapped and secured inside a medium flat rate box. $12.45
So please just add the appropriate shipping cost to your book order ($60 for soft and $250 for numbered/autographed hards). Then send me your address in a PM and I will work on getting books out.
This will be on the honor system. I will ship as I get addresses and have the books to ship.
My trip to MO this weekend got postponed, so I will be making a PO run tomorrow!
If you want to pick up your book(s) at DSC or HSC, PM me that info too, and I will update my spreadsheet.
I will PM you when your book ships.
Tim

Just got My John Sharps Book, from Tarbe Just the Pics alone are worth the soft cover Price! if you were even thinking about getting this book, you better order one! Its That Good!
I got the book. I'm going to take my time reading it. I have only perused some of the pictures so far then read a few early chapters. Thanks Tarbe. Rusty

I can't believe my copy arrived today. There is supposedly a back log because of the rotating Canada post strike ( Federal government ordered them back to work) and sometimes packages get delayed at Customs.

Book looks great.
Thanks Tarbe.
You are most welcome Sir!
Hope you enjoy getting a glimpse into John's career.

I meant to say that the book arrived in perfect order. I don't have that kind of luck usually. I ordered a gold filigreed (decorated lavishly) covered book for my Thai brother whom I haven't seen for about 8 years and the decoration was destroyed and the book was bent. It could have been used for a radius gauge. That's in the good care of the USPS. I was surprised this soft bound wasn't a radius gauge as well. Thanks to John Sharp and Tarbe. Rusty

I trust everyone who has ordered have received their book by now.
Between 24 Hour Campfire and another site, I shipped 53 books so far. Every book was shipped prior to receiving funds.
Aside from a few extraordinary cases (illness in family type stuff that was communicated ahead of time), every book has been paid for.
It is heartening to know that we have a community here that is worthy of such trust!
I have two of the limited edition, signed and numbered hard cover books, and three soft covers still available.
Also, if you are going to SCI or DSC conventions, books will be available for sale - at SCI at Wintershoek Safaris - Booth #:2019 and at DSC Booth #4342.
Take care all,
Tim

I should be at John's booth right around 1000 on Thursday.

1. I have three soft cover and one hard cover still available.
2. A framable print is in the works, of the cover photo used for the book...the iconic river crossing picture that just reeks of hard-core African hunting. There will be a limited run of numbered and signed copies..I think about 200 but don't quote me. They will be available at DSC this coming January and will also be available at some point via mail...likely after DSC. Pricing is being worked out. The number I have heard left me thinking they will sell out quickly! This will be a fairly large print. I saw a picture of John holding one up and it appears to be about 24" tall and 30" wide? Not a small print...
3. I am wheels-up August 12 to travel to the BVC to spend 12 days with John and his team. I hope I can manage to not get fired from my job these next two weeks. I am like a little kid waiting for Christmas.

I have the first 125 prints done and in my possession: The first 50 of the 300 limited edition 20x30, 50 of the 16x24 and 25 of the 24x36.
The limited edition will be signed and numbered, and will come with a 4" x 3/4" brass plaque for the frame ( says "John Sharp - Zimbabwe River Crossing". Also comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
Prices are:
20x30 Limited: $195
16x24: $65
24x36: $125
We will be selling the prints initially at DSC, then via mail order.
The reaction to the print has been amazing thus far. We have had non-hunters who peripherally find out about this print commit to purchasing it...especially the limited edition. I am fearful that it will sell out before DSC is over!
Be sure to stop by John's booth at DSC (Booth #4340). I will have one of each size framed and on display.

Did you read Doc Rocket's post or is there an underlying issue here, re: the supposed lack of big bulls?
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”
I think it's safe to say John puts his clients on good bulls EVERY year.
He does. Tim and his partner both got big bulls, and while both the bulls I’ve shot with him have been under forty, they were both incredible hunts, and the old dugga boy I shot 3 months ago is a hell of a trophy. There’s more to a “good” bull than his outside spread.
"I'm gonna have to science the schit out of this." Mark Watney, Sol 59, Mars
Well, whenI hunted with him, my bull went 38" but my hunting partner's went just a bit over 40. Then there was my 59" kudu (well, 59 3/4s), and a 15.5" Bushbuck, but since some are about measuring dick lengths, I'll put that out there.

...not to mention Cate’s wildebeest from this last August is well into Rowland Ward’s book, and may make SCI book, as well.

Bring it to Alberta, I'll measure it for SCI. If it is well into Roland Ward, it is likely a Gold or for sure Silver medal bull.
Here are the prints I framed for display at DSC - to give an idea of relative size.
24x36, 16x24, 20x30.
The 20x30 size is limited to only 300 and they will be numbered and signed and will come with the brass plaque and certificate of authenticity, numbered to the print.
