LOL We had a bear walk in on us too. Didn't charge though. Seemed unimpressed with us and walked out. We had TONS of hogs around us but it only lasted a couple minutes. But it was long enough.

WOW! Good pic!
It was 38 degrees when I was there and the instant I shot the only pig I had a chance at I caught movement 20 yards away out of the corner of my eye. It was a sow ( bear..) putting her cub up a tree, and she was open for business!
I talked her out of it, luckily or there would have been a LOT of explaining to do!
That pig your daughter got was a good 'un!

Very nice indeed. Congrats to both daughter and dad. Great times there.

Nice hunt. I havn’t hunted with those guys, but it looks like they have a pretty good supply of hogs there. I mostly hunt hogs near Lake O, which is much closer to my house.

Nice pigs! I've always liked the red ones. My BIL had been chasing a red one for a few months but could never get a shot, and one afternoon he shot a muddy ol' sow not far from a drainage ditch. When we took her back to camp and washed her off, all we could see was copper hair underneath all that mud. Congrats on those pigs.

Thank you guys! Yea she is really excited about the red one. She wants to have a half body mount done. Should look pretty cool when done. Now if we can just find a place this year to get her a doe in FL.

They definitely had tons of pork. The smaller ones would come in first, but if you were patient and didn't shoot a little one, the larger ones would try and sneak in late in the evening. Funny thing is...I was worried it would be like shooting tame animals in a fence, but not so! If they smelled, heard, or seen you...they were all gone in a cloud of dust!
I usually hunt public land for hogs, but wanted to try something different since I was on a time crunch. Glad I did.

Good work. I like the grey one the way it blends with the sand. Curious if you have herd of "Mule Shoe" hogs in Florida? It seems like it is a genetic throwback with either a single hoof or the hooves fused together, supposedly goes back to the Spaniards.

Pigs have better noses than deer. It’s hard to kill pigs out of a bow stand. They will smell your ass quick! A few weeks ago I was busted from about 75 yards as the result of a brief shift in the wind. A boar came out, threw his head in the air, and was gone. And I hadn't been anywhere near where he was. But boars don't get big by being stupid. Sows with shoats and piglets, on the other hand, seem to be somewhat less cautious - "somewhat" being the operative word, there. I'm not sure why that's the case, but it's been my experience.

Shot a couple on this last trip from about 130 yards...that far from the blind allows you a bit more movement etc...

Sound doesn't seem to bother them much, if it's a natural sound. Clanking metal will often send them to cover, but crunching leaves and grass generally won't. Squirrels and armadillos can sound like a rhino coming through the brush, so the pigs are used to it. Movement isn't so bad if it's slow. As for staring straight at them, one thing I learned from years of duck hunting is that a bare face generally lights up like a beacon. A camo face net takes care of that. But if the wind shifts and sends human scent their way, the bigger ones simply disappear.

Head nets make all the difference down here in the swamps. No such thing as a long shot around here.

When bow hunting at 17+ paces, I try to never make "eye contact" with deer or hogs.
