Have some on the way and this is a new to me powder. I will try it first with the 25-06 and 85 gr. loads. Then in the 300WM with 150s. R16 looks to be a versatile powder possibly working in a wide range of applications like 17 Rem to 375 H&H. Any recipes?

I found that R16 shot 270 130gr E-tips into 1/3" at 100 at the max load for that rifle. Have yet to run them over a chronograph, but I am guessing 3100-3150. According to Alliant, I should be close to 3200. Pretty sweet for initial tests. Going to try in '06 next. Maybe I can get the E-tips to finally shoot in that one too.

I started using it in my 6CM with 108 gr bullets......very accurate.....3,000 fps

42.5 gr RE 16 with 143 ELD-X gets 2750 fps with good accuracy in my 6.5 CM Fieldcraft.

My 7-08 is real fond of 45 grs of RL16 and a 150 gr Nosler BT. Shoots sub MOA. Most times half inch, sometimes a skosh bigger, depending on how much coffee I've had..

I would think that 16 would work well with the CM and 120-130 grain bullets, I do know RL26 is great in mine with 140 gr & I also wonder how 16 would do in my 308 with 175's.

I found R16 to be very accurate and consistent in the .30-06 with 168 TTSX, 180 NP, 190 ABLR and 200 AB.
That said, R26 gives significantly higher velocity and equally great accuracy with 190 and 200 gn bullets.

R16 is my new favorite in the 220 Swift. 50, 52 or 55 gn bullets with 43.0 gn R16. 215 primers give much more consistent velocities than 210Ms (<40 fps vs 100 fps spreads).

The Speer #15 manual has lots of data.

Good stuff keep it coming. I think the R16 for lighter bullets and R26 for medium to heavy is going to be a good duo. R16 may best the 4350s in some applications which is a pretty high benchmark to beat. Need to look at Speer #15. Most of my manuals are 20 to 40 years old, time to update.

I am getting 2825 fps with a 143 ELDX with RL-16 in my 24" 6.5 CM.

Good 30/06 load for RL16 is 59.0gr using 150gr Accubond WLR primer and Win case OAL is 3.250 3046FPS SD 6.4

RL16 57.0gr 165gr Accubond WLR primer Rem/Peters case OAL 3.260 2987FPS SD 17.2


RL16 58.0gr 165gr Trophy Bonded Tipped 215M primer Win case 3.260 2981FPS SD 3.6

I,ve had good luck with 270 Winchester using RL16 with 110gr and 130gr bullets. Heavier bullets need slower powder.

RL26 is Best powder for 30/06 using 165gr bullets or heavier.

I,m using 30/06 Weatherbuy with 24" barrel.
