I have a Yamaha Timberwolf 250 2 x 4 that I'm thinking of selling. Starts easily, runs well, looks rough but it's in good shape.
The rear brakes operate from either from the lever on the left handlebar, or a footbrake lever. The cable on the footbrake is pretty short, but seems stretched out and it's out of room for adjustment. I can't find one one ebay or anywhere else online. Front brake cables are everywhere, but not rear brake cables.
Any idea on how I can get a footbrake cable for this model, or something comparable that will work?
Also, any idea on what this machine is worth? I'd like $1,000, but I'm thinking $800.
Thanks. Steve.

Thanks, but the rear wheel diagram does not show the brake cable.
My nephew is a Harley mechanic and I have him working on finding it. If that falls through I'll call the folks you posted. .

I’d list it at $12-1500 and see what ya get. I had a Timberwolf 4x4 and it was a great little wheeler.
Camp is where you make it.

I had a 220 bayou that I got $900 out of, but I had put a lot of money into it . I bought cheap and still made $400 on it . unfortunately 2wd quads don’t really sell great unless they are a true sport quad. I would say list it for $1000 but your probably right with the$800 amount..

I fixed the breaks on the Timberwolf. Turns out there is no footbrake cable. Instead, a rod pulling the lever to spread a cam that opens the brake against the drum. The lever was way out of adjustment, causing a bend in the rod. Once I got that figured out, it was nothing to fix. The footbrake works like new now.

I bought my daughter a 2002 beartracker 250 2wd in 2006, finally sold it last year for $1400. That was a great little bike overall, but the carb was always a total pita...never really idled as smooth as it should have. I was constantly trying to tweak it.
But it served us well, with a set of chains it would go anywhere and it never left the daughter stranded.

One nice thing about some of these 2WDs is that if you get stuck, you can pick up the back end and get it on solid ground. I've never been stuck where I couldn't get unstuck, nor has the previous owner, a friend of mine. Steve.
