I am a deer hunter. I own several very nice rifles. No shotgun. There is a quality sporting clays facility 8 miles from my house. I just retired from education (36 yrs). I need a shotgun Auto in the $500-$600 range. 12 or 20. Stoeger 3000/3020?

Remington 1100 or 11-87 would be a great place to start. Easy to sell if you decide to go another way. Once you get to know some of the guys that shoot there ask if you can try there guns to Ultimately find what you really like.

It’s all about fit/feel with shotguns so shoot as many different guns as you can and ask for input from some of the better shooters

I strongly recommend one of the Beretta 300 series shot guns from anywhere is from 302 to the 390 or even an older 391. They have long proven the test of time of being reliable and dependable shot guns especially in the sporting clays field. These are all older model so you'll be looking for used but I would have absolutely no problem with them. The Remington 1111 87 are good guns but they Brad does have dominated the sporting clays circuit for decades. In any event,

I would stay away from Stoeger or any of the other importa of a like nature. My own experience plus those of many many others bear out that these are not durable guns.

Good suggestions, also take a look at the Franchi Affinity.

Local gun shop has a new SBE 2 12 gauge 26" wood for $809. Good deal? Worthy choice?

Have a look at a used Winchester Super X2 or Super X3. Basically bulletproof and worry free.

The SBE is always a good choice. When you get to South America shooting doves, you won't see all those other brands being used. The Benelli will shoot 100's of thousands of rounds and with minor repairs, will keep on shooting. Try that with anything else...

A Benelli M1 is a good choice but may be a hard find in good condition in that price range. Winchester Super X3 is a good one and lots of good reviews on the Tristar Vipers and Weatherby SA-08 despite being a Turkish import.

You just have to keep looking. There is a reason so many Benelli's are in South America and get the snot shot out of them. You won't see another brand anywhere near the numbers of Benelli...

At that price, I'd suck it up like a Hoover DeLuxe...

The 26" Benellis are plenty long. The little longer receiver makes up the difference. I ordered my 20 ga Montefeltro with a 24" as it was to be primarily a quail gun.

Sorry; it was an M2 for $809. Still a steal. I got it for that out the door.

Find yourself a used Beretta 390 and go shooting. I bought one about ten years ago and it has run flawlessly ever since. It has seen some brutal conditions while hunting waterfowl in Arkansas, without a hiccup.
