I have a 1950 336 SC .35 Rem with a Redfield coin slot peep sight on it. I like it although a scope is better for first and last 10 minutes of legal shooting light. Legal hours are 30 minutes before sunrise and after sunset. During the last 10 to 15 minutes a scope is preferable, not just for the sights, but also easier to make out the intended target and at greater range in the gloom.

Sounds similar to mine 44mc and you got a good deal on it. Yours is probably ballard rifled as well. Think it was a few years later that Marlin started microgroove rifling. I've got a Model 39 and a couple of 444's including the first year with straight grip monte carlo stock 24" barrel microgroove and another one I bought brand new with pistol grip stock, ballard rifling 1:20 twist 22" barrel. Don't care for the cross-bolt safety on it, but it's a good rifle otherwise and pretty nice wood. I sold a 1894 cowboy .45 colt a while back.
I've got several boxes of remington factory ammo for the .35 Rem, but also have dies, brass and bullets on hand for it. Have a bunch of 200 gr core-loks and hornady interlocks so no problem if another ammo shortage comes up.
