El Cheapo as it's a 700 Tac that had a $100 rebate. Bonuses were LRTSi with 30% rebate, Grayboe was on sale, and Timney on sale. Haven't been that excited to shoot it, so it's been sitting in the safe for months. Only fired 8 rounds yesterday, but seems promising. Two to get a zero, then 3-shot group clustered in upper portion of the orange, under 3/8". Let it sit, then shot 3 more, which landed in the lower portion of the orange under 3/8". Not sure about the high/low groupings as it could have been me, parallax, or random. Composite group for 6 shots was just under 7/8". To be fair, I didn't spend much time getting a good rest as I was more interested in velocity and ES from the Horny ammo. I'll post updates as I wring it out. Factory 147 ELD-M, fps 1. 2659 2. 2621 3. 2583 4. 2622 5. 2600 6. 2630

Looks like a keeper. Question about the grayboe stock, is it fiberglass or IM? Can't seem to find it on their webpage.
When people face the possibility of freezing or starving there is little chance they are going to listen to unfounded claims of climate doomsday from a bunch of ultra-rich yacht sailing private jet-setting carbon-spewing hypocrite elites

Any luck with the rebate? I sent it all in and now they're saying they never got the receipt. It was stapled all together so they Damn well did.

Great looking rifle and group(s). What bottom metal/dbm set up did you use?

Hawkins M5 bottom metal, and AM binderless 5 & 10 round magazines. Rail and rings are Seekins. Timney thin set at 1.5 pounds.

Nice rifle!
I’m liking the Hawkins DBM that I just installed.

Random question - Is there a reason behind putting the front ring so far forward? Give extra strength/stability?
I usually just space as equally as a I can for pure aesthetics, but you've got me wondering if I've done it all wrong.

Generally the smaller amount of the scope out past the ring the better.

I think there's merit to spacing the rings as far as possible. I would have put the front ring one notch forward but it would have been hanging partway off the rail. A narrower ring might have fit. Sometimes it works out perfect... photo hosting

I like a 6.5 Creedmoor. It’s about 8 miles over to Lake Buchanan from our lease. We shoot ducks off the lake with our Creedmoor’s.

Gotta love a cheap 6.5 CM as I’m not sure I would pay the entrance admission of going new. Mine is an old shot out 700 ltr in .308. A buddy had a new 20” Bartlein Marksman chambered in 6.5 CM for a song so off it went to be screwed together. In the interest of cheap I dug out my old airbrush and Shot a coat of fde durakote which looked like ass as I’m no Picasso. I wanted to hate it in the worst was but it shoots amazing no matter what gets put in it. Luckily for me the wife claimed it so my ego is still intact. She didn’t like the color so it’s out being cerakoted some girly color combo. Supposed to be urban gray with added metallic on the metal and ridgeway with black and silver splatter on the stock. Supposed to pick it up tomorrow so we shall see how horrid it looks. I’m hoping for absolute ugly stepsister hideous ugly as it’s accuracy will quiet the critics. Old look: Average group:

How are you guys liking the 6.5 creedmore for whitetail. I keep boggling between 6.5cm and 7mm rem for a mid to long range hunting gun. I use .270 now and it’s my all around gun. Would like to have dedicated gun for open areas because I want different optics than what I carry everywhere. I like idea of having a 6.5 cm tack driver with good optics set up.

6.5 Creedmoor ballistics are excellent for deer. I've experienced it via the 260 Remington, but the deer can't tell which case the bullet was launched out of.

Today was the first outing, since the post above. Last time, I shot 8 rounds to get a 100 yard zero with the LRSTi. Today we went straight to 500 yards, and rounds #9, 10, 11, and 12 went sub-MOA into the center of a 12" armor plate. Then 595 yards, and still sub-MOA on another 12" plate. Shut it down as 500 & 600 were too easy and the barrel isn't even broken-in yet Need more rounds, distance, and footage, but so far I'm impressed with the 700 and factory Horny 147 ammo. POI matched the data and elevation dialed, but at only 4.1 mils it wasn't much of a test. Still need to run a tall target test. Hope to get a better report posted, but archery elk is right around the corner and I've got a new bow to shoot
