Here's my four inch Model 29-2

[Linked Image]

And my six inch Model 29-3

[Linked Image]

Both were purchased by me more than twenty years ago, and shot very little. Mainly safe queens.

I've also got a 329PD, and I may have already posted a picture of it in this thread earlier.

Additionally, since this is for .44 Magnums, and not just S&W 29 variants, I also have an old style Ruger Vaquero in .44 Magnum. I'll see about snapping a picture and posting it.

I added a Ruger Bisley 44 Magnum last winter. Nice shooter. I just replaced the original grips with some cocobolo from Hogue.

I was holding 6 o'clock at 25 yards.

Some Russian cases with the 250gr Keith and 5.0gr Unique, about 800 fps. The magnum cases are the 310gr WFN over 20.5gr H110.

They just don't blue them like that anymore.

That one is truly an amazing gun, and a guy would be extremely hard pressed to ever own a finer example.

5" M29s are (to me) are the epitome of balance and perfection, and older pinned and recessed Smiths, with their rich bluing are an example of craftsmanship and craftsmen themselves of a bygone era.

I don't believe so. I believe that is a custom built gun, but its still a phenomenal Model 29 overall. That is one of those "Goldilocks" .44 Magnums that you could settle on just one, just right, for all your big bore needs. I guarantee you if it were mine it would have some serious holster wear/blue loss by now! smile

Nope. An interchangeable bladed one made by Jim Stroh who has since retired. The base is attached by screws. Here's a couple of close-ups on a custom 5" 45 Colt. Takes a bit of milling but no heat hence no re-blue.

Ive' never held or shot a 5" Mdl 29. Yet it just looks right.
I prefer the 4" to the longer barrels but I would like to compare a 5" to see if I might like that better.
