They're easy to do. Doubt you'll have any trouble.

Brined and spatchcocked is one of my favorite ways to do a turkey. It just takes up a lot of space if the bird has some size to it.

Super easy...Marinating a whole chicken right now for dinner... Cut the spine out. Smash/flatten bird...I’m using a 3 burner Weber preheated to 450 degrees. Shut off the middle burner for indirect cooking...Put bird breast side up in the middle...Cook for 50 minutes. Flip bird so breast is down and over a flame for another 10 minutes to crisp up the skin...Done and awesome! Make them all the time. Traeger will be amazing with the smoke flavor...😎

Yup, brine.
Also have the wife or someone with small hands loosen a giant pocket of skin starting at neck and working to the legs. Then jam frozen pats of butter, fresh herbs, seasonings all over under the skin with out ripping it off.
Cook rib side down and have heavy weight foil ready Incase it starts to crisp to much before hitting temp.

Sounds like a physical deformation (which from the turkey;s point of view I suppose it is).

By the way, it's spelled spatchCOCK. Someone just wants to say cock outloud. Don’t confuse this fine way to cook a bird with “shuttlecock” or you may end up with a different birdie on your grill...😎

Never cooked one like that. Think I can pull off doing a chicken on a $30 charcoal Weber?
I’m away from home for a few months stuck in a city apartment. Amazing what you can do on a tiny charcoal grill but I don’t know if I can keep from burning the hell out of a whole chicken.
I’ll give it a try ha.

You betcha....50 minutes at 400 degrees with Brest Up seems to work on gas or charcoal. Finish with 10-15 Brest Down and grub! Traeger may be different...I’ve never done a bird on one...😎
