Anyone making a replacement stock for a No 1? Not looking for anything nice, just one to shorten for a youth to use. One someone had replaced or upgraded would be perfect.
I'm ignorant regarding No 1's as I've never messed with them so please let me know if any of them have a different action design that won't interchange...I'm making the assumption they all use the same attachments.
Thanks

J, After messing around with Numbsr 1s and 3s for the last 40 years , my observation is that the odds of you getting a "deal" on a genuine Ruger No 1 buttstock.are pretty slim. The factory has ALWAYS charged a pretty penny for replacements ( I bet current cost is way north of $300 right now)..There is s constant demand for them to replace damaged and butchered stocks so they are hard to find..Most go for abput $209.
Since ths stock WILL be chopped by you , my advice is to get a Ruger no 3 stock There seem to be more of those stocks around because I think more have been restocked.. They bolt right on to a No1 frame and the No 1 lever will not be a problem. Chop it to.the right length an put a nice thick pad on it...Here is one for about $50 delivered on Ebay...Merry Christmas-

That was perfect for what I needed. I didn't know #3's and #1's would interchange stocks. Thanks jk16!

I "think" I snagged it. Did the buy it now as a guest, received an email that payment went through and I would be updated when it shipped. I purchased it as a guest because I didn't want to go through trying to find my ebay account, etc...I only use it once every couple of years. Later I get an email to my ebay account like you did that it's no longer available......hopefully it was because I purchased it as a guest. Will find out eventually I guess.

Just looking to whack it and glue a flip-flop pad on for my two youngest. Adult length will be fine for my oldest. Thanks for the pointer though!

Sometimes you can get ‘deals’ on GB when someone unloads a shortened-stocked rifle on an unsuspecting buyer. 🙄 (happened to me when I bought a Liberty 243 some years back; should have looked closer at pics or asked questions). But it made a new/damaged 270 work well for my 9-year-old to learn on.
Sometimes, the air you 'let in'matters less than the air you 'let out'.
