Hey all. I've been getting recommendations to try the 110 TTSX in the 270 Win. Those that promote it are mighty passionate about it. So,let's have the skinny on it. Critter pics, target pics, recipes. Load recipes that is. Not critter recipes. Unless you have a be all,end all smoked critter recipe. Let's air this bullet out.

270 win, ruger 77 mark II and Rem 700
110g tipped tripple shoc seat .050 off the lands
two loads work
a. 58g of Win 760, rem 9 1/2 primer
B. 57-58g of R#17 with fed 215 primer
Velocity is 3350-3375 with these two loads
Friend shoots a hot load of H4350 with the same bullet
The bullet does not stop in deer that I have shot from any angle
I switch out to a 110g Hornady HP for varmints, and 110g Sierra Pro Hunter
All three bullets have the same point of impact. I sight in at 200 yards, very little drop at 300 yards(long shot for me).

Thanks Keith. That all sounds pretty good. I have all the powders you listed. What is the farthest you have taken deer with them?

Out of a M70 with a 24" barrel, I got 3500 fps with 62.5 grns of Ramshot Hunter. I worked up to the max of 63.5 but the gain was only maybe 40 fps average. I got decent groups but I can probably dial it in a little better adjusting the seating depth.

Otter6,
Can't seem to get the photos down, but last year's buck was 239 yards away going up a very steep section. Hit it behind the diaphragm. went through the heart, and stopped in front of the sternum. 23" of penetration. 105 grains retained. Hunter Ram Shot @ 63.5 w/WLRM, 3,460 w/45 degrees temp.

I have not hunted with this bullet yet but here are two loads that shoot great in my Steyr-Mannlicher rifle: Load 1: (Most Accurate, ~ 3000 f/sec) Case: Nosler Custom (new) Bullet: Barnes 110 grain TTSX Primer: Federal 210M Powder: N560 Charge: 59 Grain COAL: 3.22 Inch Load 2: (Laser Beam, ~ 3400 f/sec) Case: Nosler Custom (new) Bullet: Barnes 110 grain TTSX Primer: Federal 210M Powder: IMR4350 Charge: 60 Grain COAL: 3.22 Inch Use these loads with caution, start lower and watch pressure signs. Good luck, -Omid The group marked M2 corresponds to Load 1 above.

Ringman, did it loose all its petals? That's pretty impressive penetration for a light bullet.

I have loaded this bullet in my 270 WSM with a max charge of H4350 and Fed 215M primers, seated .045" off. It is among the most accurate loads I have used in this rifle. My deer hunting with it consists of a sample of one. Doe at about 180yds, broadside quartering away. In though the ribs and out through the shoulder. As far as I know the bullet is still going!

55.5 grains of 4350 in my 700 gave me 3170 FPS and caliber wide bu 1/2 inch high groups. It has killed 8-12 deer. All one shot kills. All complete pass throughs. One deer manged 70 yards with no lungs and a blown up heart. The rest something less. One deer at 263 yards was high shouldered slightly quartering away. Fist size hole through the on side scapula, 4 ribs edgewise, fist size chunk out of the bottom of the spine, two ribs edge wise, quarter size hole in the off side scapula and exited. Thee holes in the hide were both caliber sized. Tore up the lungs pretty good. Down where it stood obviously. Bullet hit within 1/2 inch of POA. That's a lot of bone to go through in a straight line. No petals came off that I could see, and I butchered the deer.
Kills ranged from 25 feet to 263 yards. As far as I am concerned, I do not need anything else for my .270.

Ringman, did it loose all its petals? That's pretty impressive penetration for a light bullet. All petals were intact. Also remembered I shot a couple pigs with that load: 212 pounds and 236 pounds. Hit behind the shoulder on both with complete pass throughs.

I'm a fan. I've taken two elk with the 110 TTSX. I used the 130 gr TSX for a while and was so impressed that I gave the 110 a look. Haven't recovered a bullet. I worked up to the max load in my now outdated Barnes manual of 63.5 gr of Ramshot Hunter, CCI 200's, and Winchester brass. I seat 'em to 3.255" for my old Husky. My cheap chrono shows them scooting along at well over 3500 fps (which is in line with what the Barnes manual says). I've used quite a few mono's and I agree with many on the Fire: the key is to push 'em hard. My rifle shoots them well but they can be temperamental.

Thanks Keith. That all sounds pretty good. I have all the powders you listed. What is the farthest you have taken deer with them? Big bucks in Kansas at 325, flopped. 110g tipped tripple shock turns the gut sack into jello. 110g Sierra pro hunter is a great deer bullet if you can stay off the shoulder, if you do not, the bullet will not exit, insides are soup.

I just ran the numbers in Strelok for a couple velocities, with 200 and 300 yard zeros. Chit these things shoot flat! Wind drift kinda sucks, but the drops are amazing.

Another little laser is the 120 grain .284 TTSX from the 280 AI. Ran those numbers too. My old 139 grain Hornadys might have to get in the back seat.

OP glad this topic was brought up. I started off shooting these (110 TTSX) out of a Tikka 270WSM about 3 years ago. Loaded them in Nosler brass with 63grs IMR-4350 and WLRM. The first time to the range i put the first 4 shots in a jagged hole and the 5th less than a 1/2’’ Outside of the jagged hole. I knew at that point for sure that I had found my dream 270wsm load for whitetail. First (and only) season hunting with them i shot 7 whitetail in 2 different states. 2 of them i know where hit but could not recover, of the other 5 they all ran (not use to this shooting 270wsm 140gr factory ammo) and of those 5 only 2 of them left what i would consider a decent blood trail. 1 left a tiny pencil eraser sized droplets for over 100 yds up to a dead deer and the other 2 no blood whatsoever. Fortunately, both deer were recovered but neither had blood up until where the animal was laying dead. I cant seem to figure out what the problem is. My (older and more experienced) hand loading buddy seems to think the petals may have been breaking off of the bullet leaving only the core to exit and with only 2 holes the size of a pencil not much blood to be found. All animals were shot behind the shoulder or in the rib cage. No bullets were discovered. Strange
