Found a 99F serial number 946279 and has a 6 in the circle in front of the lever. In pretty good condition. When was this made and what is it worth? Thanks in advance.

For value check the online auctions for a pre mil Model F. The chambering could make some difference, Winchester calibers bringing more all else being equal.

I find gunbroker completed ads give a pretty fair picture of 99 market value, so a quick look shows $475 to $700 for recently sold 99F in 308. It would have to be a pretty nice one for me to get up to $700, and I'd grab every one I came by at $400.

Did the rifles in 1957 come factory drilled and tapped for mounting optics?

All the F and R models were factory drilled then. The EGs above 750,000 were also with a smattering of them drilled between 728 and 732,000.

Did the EGs between 728 and 732,000 have the Savage 99 moved to the side, or were the d&t through the stamping?
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics are questionable.
