John Holliger just sent me an email saying Konrad Powers Shot a 200-16 in the 600 slow prone with a worn out Wilson barrel. That is the Crowell Match at the NRA Nationals. Said he probably won the High Civilian Shooter award also.

Wonder what the round count was?

I won the Louisiana State Leg Match once with a Krieger that was pushing 13,000 rounds. It didn't shoot that well but I was shooting well enough that day and didn't really care, shot for fun...

Could have been a joke from John, who knows.
John shot very well and his 10 year old son really shot well.

We knew John, his son and Konrad would all shoot well!

We'll find out, I'm sure Nez will know. Honestly Wilson tubes, while not usually tack drivers, have shot very well for what they are. Heads above the 3 Douglas I've had to suffer with over the years.

John phrased it junk Wilson barrel, not worn out, most likely just broken in to last through Perry. Keith used to pull out those Wilsons after 3000 rounds whether he just won the last match.

Junk is just a term of endearment from John, those are his bread and butter barrels. He and I have been chatting quite a bit about barrels, bullets, and testing. Here in Shilen Country we love their SS 7.5T Ratchet. Hopefully John will offer these as well under the Whiteoak Armament, be good for pur TX company - a strong supporter of our Junior program.

I just sent him a friendly bet, NTT 600 yard score, TSRA against ISRA. The prize TSRA hat for a ISRA hat. Two of our hard holders are not even going to Perry

The scope elevated the bulk of the scores, the top dogs would still prevail, the big improvements are with the experts and aspiring masters. We have a junior who struggled to shoot low to mid master scores, the scope took him to consistent MA, and occasional HM. He won the LEG match at Panola with a 493. Another one of our juniors whom I coached at 600 just this March, she shot all over, nothing on call for 150+. In our 1 week of training session at Swift she had scope, she consistently shot low190s. She won the LEG match at OKC 2 weeks after the training session. 3 weeks ago at Bayou Rifles, one of our juniors after getting issued a March scope, she posted an amazing 99-9X followed by a clean at 300 rapid.

The relevance of the previous paragraph, Konrad won the P100 before, with irons of course, he is a hell of a shot, the scope elevated the scoring capability of the 223 in a 20 inch barrel with scope to match rifle category in performance. Beating Brandon Green at 600 by Xs is a feat when Green was shooting a bolt gun with a hot rod cartridge, not a puny 223.

Here is the latest I got from Holliger. The official result of the Crowell Trophy. Impressive shooting.

"first and third overall were service rifle civilians. HMCSR class top 4 had a combined score of 800-51x. All 4 WOA uppers 2 wilsons 1 Krieger and one I am not sure what barrel he has."
