So without delving into the fish and game website, wondering if the residents of Wyoming are able to annually draw to most of their preference spots or do they need multiple points to draw?
Just looking at an overview of elk tags for residents. I can understand if there are highly desirable trophy bull units - which can demand multiple points to draw to.

I could be wrong, but there is no point system for residents for elk. It's like playing the lotto....gotta get lucky.

Yep, no preference points for Wyo residents for elk. Some species, not elk. Luck of the draw.

Draw odds for some units are tough. Good news is there are some good general tag units if you are willing to put in the work. And if willing to bow hunt you can get to rutting elk in September.

Same story with deer and antelope. Some units have a 10% draw rate for residents.

Edited to add, if you don’t draw your preferred unit you can purchase a General Tag over the counter.

The better the area for game and public access....the more difficult to draw on a regular basis! memtb

Yep , no PP for us residents. Just drew a great area for elk that we haven't had a tag for in a few years.
