Looking for opinions on feeding dogs an egg with their daily meals.
I give my big boys a treat (egg) and they sure like the addition.
Anyone else use eggs ? Good for them, bad or ?
If you use an egg with usual feed how often ?

I've fed them egg shells before. They love'em. It must tear up their azzhole though because there's still pieces of shell in their poop. I think eggs are good for them.

My wife gives our's hard boiled eggs and the dog loves them. Not as messy.

No shells.
Eggs are good for them. Shiny coats and all.

Roger that. A good source of additional protein is always a good thing.

Sounds like most agree that eggs are good for dogs.
So I guess my question would be is daily too often ?
I've been putting one egg in their dry food every morning for the last week.
Used to give them an egg every once in a while. Just thought it couldn't hurt to ask what others are doing.

Our Lilly is on straight dog food, save the odd bone. Then the bone is not fed at the table, we don't want her to beg at the table. We spoiled our last Sheltie something awful, with food scraps. He suffered from liver failure at ten years, no more of that.

egg and cod liver oil is good for the coat. Feed them boiled and shelled eggs if you have laying hens or plan on it, don't ask me how I know.

Reminds me of back in the 50's .When my father was laid off from the coal mines , we got surplus food from the USDA. Powdered milk, canned meat, cheese, oatmeal, flour, raisins, butter, lard, powdered potatoes, and powdered eggs.
The canned meat was a step above Alpo dog food, but we ate it fried. But those powered eggs were really bad. Dad would not eat them.He kept a few beagle dogs around to hunt rabbits with and the dogs would eat them if mixed with the cheapest dog food we could buy. Cooked up by themselves, the dogs would not even eat them. They sure kept the dogs coat in great shape when those eggs were fried up with the lard and mixed with cheap dog food.

We use to make a pone of cornbread with plenty of eggs and grease in it for the dogs. It would be so greasy that it would almost drip after it was cooked. Dogs loved it and made their coats shine.

I'll either accidently crack an egg or have one that the hen cracked every few days, and always feed it to the dog.

An egg once every two weeks or so. Also, I buy sardines in olive oil when they are on sale and mix one a day with dry food. The beagle loves it....

Just be sure to feed a cooked egg. Raw egg white can bind biotin and cause a deficiency.

Eggs cooked in lard or bacon grease are especially tasty to dogs and are a reasonable top-dressing for their regular chow. The note from Ironbender is correct, raw eggs are not recommended for dogs. Our dogs get half a scrambled egg about every 4-7 days.
The bacon grease is "better balanced" than most other fats and will put a shine on their coat without breaking the bank. Keep it in the fridge, it can go rancid.

Our rural uncle taught us that as kids staying at his place. He lived a few hundred yards up the road from a commercial egg operation. And had chickens. The dogs were NOT allowed raw egg or shells. One of ours gets a dollop of something special every meal, sardines, cottage cheese, boiled chicken, steak gristle, egg yolks if the wife made something with the whites, or some commercial stuff the wife buys. The little girl dog is "special". The boy dog likes it as he gets a bit on his to be fair. Geno
