"Peter Strzok grew up in Iran" Yes, but ... Iran was ruled by the Shah until 1979, when he was deposed by the radicals. From Wikipedia: " His father, Peter P. Strzok, was a longtime member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers". Following the fall of the Shah, the family then returned to the US.
When the family then returned to the US (from Wikipedia): "For high school, Strzok attended St. John's Preparatory School in Minnesota, graduating in 1987.[15] He earned a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University in 1991 as well as a master's degree in 2013.[16] After graduating from Georgetown in 1991, Strzok served as an officer in the United States Army before leaving to join the FBI in 1996 as an intelligence research specialist.

You may not like the guy, but service in the US military or US intelligence operations is hardly a treasonous act.[b][/b] His background in and of ITSELF is not incriminating. But a couple minute perusal of his actions that have thus far been exposed are more than damning. Just imagine what we'll never know........ Tall tree and a short rope. After he's had a long conversation with them that are good at talking to folks.

I kind of doubt that she was really having an affair with Strzok. I think that the affair ruse might have been a cover to explain all those texts and hopefully shield them as private communications from disclosure. Now that the affair angle has broken so publicly and caused her so much personal pain and discomfort, she is pissed and feels used.
