Hey guys and gals, Just wanted to share my very first attempt at duplicating the Manners GAP Camo pattern. I got the idea from a post by 257heaven here on the fire and I was inspired to try it. What do you think?

Next I will do one with blue for my wife's Vanguard 308.

Looks good from here. Mind walking us through the process?

Thanks prm! I just finished the blue Vanguard stock for my wife. She loves blue, and she said she LOVES the stock! The second one was even easier than the first. Kind of finding my groove.

Super easy to do sockpuppet. The stocks were already black so I just found the 2 other colors I wanted, wiped the stock down with acetone to remove any oil. I then put on rubber gloves to keep the oil from my hands off the stock. Then dipped a 3" piece of rough sponge lightly into the paint, and dabbed it on the stock. I would touch the stock with the paint then rotate the sponge and hit the same spot again until I liked the look of the spot then moved on. Done the lighter color first, then the darker. I then sprayed a matte clear coat over the top to add durability to the finish.

Cornel616, I put on 3 coats of matte clear. First one very light, and then 2 normal coats.

Remington280, I used Rustoleum. I was going to try Krylon based on the reviews I have read but couldn't find the right colors. I have always had great results with Rusoleum though.

I like that.... Thanks for the instructions and tips. Might be a synthetic stock refinish job coming up around here and I'd like to do something along those lines.
