My buddy is looking to do a brown bear hunt this fall. Maybe fall into a cancellation slot or something.
Any ideas?

Have him apply for a Wyoming Grizzly tag, it's a long shot for sure. The tag is $6,000.00 for a Non Resident. Refunded if you don't draw. Odds are about the same as getting struck by lightning or winning the Lottery.

Unless of course, he wants to do so - perfectly understandable. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I'd encourage him to take something he's amassed some time/familiarity with (if possible) over something new that likely won't get shot a ton ahead of time. When I go back, I'll likely take a 30.06 or the 35 Whelen (again).

Any ideas? www.accuratereloading.comForums Click on Outfitters and Discounted Hunts. There were some there but may be filled. Let us know what you find.

Phil shoemaker. Grizzly skins of Alaska
Henry Tiffany Alaska perimeter expeditions
There’s others as well. But I know those two know the gig of bear hunting

The AR site is a good place to look. Brown bear for this fall is cutting it close. Maybe a few cancellations out there but most guys with a clue will be booked up already.

Suggestions...
I hear that standing at the bottom of a hill, about 30° steep, or greater, and tossing a ball about the size of a softball up that hill about as far as you can underhand and then shouldering your rifle and shooting said ball before it rolls all the way down and reaches your feet makes for good practice...
