Thinking back on this one, I would probably put Caesar no higher than the second Emperor, behind Constantine as far as extended influence goes. Jesus would probably agree.

I always wonder about the unsung folks who shaped history.

Pvt. Beauregard T. Calhoun, who took one too many nips of moonshine and failed to deliver Lee's message to Pickett - "On second thought, never mind".

Flight Officer Sigmund Falschweg, who in August 1940 replied to his bombardier, "Nein, I'm pretty sure das ist nicht London. Drop der bombs, dummkopf."

Luigi Nonsanitorio, Italian sailor in 1345 who begged his captain, "Hey, it'sa only a leetle-a rat, can I keepa him as a pet?"

And of course, that famous 5th century Roman monk, Padre Miope, who badly misspelled "celebrate"...

Genghis Khan did the same.

Biblical David was the same kind of ambitious conquering butcherous aashole as those you mention.
I don't recall his targeted victims doing anything to him to warrant such annihilation.

Of course there is the claim that God told him to do it so its ok, but numerous megalomaniacs have claimed inspiration from God.

No, David was not at all what you say he was. Read the Bible. When the Hebrews moved into Canaan, God ordered them to kill every last person there because of their rampant sin. Joshua got the job started but after he died, they quit fighting and just let the remaining Canaanites alone. As a result, it was nothing but continuous warfare from then on. 300 years later, when Saul became king, he tried to deal with some of them and his battles were continued by David. They were following God's instructions but it was too late to complete the job. If the early Hebrews had followed God's orders, none of that would have happened. The various tribes were worshiping many different gods, sacrificing their children, and many other detestable sins.
David wasn't perfect. The Bible tells of his murder of Uriah and his failure to discipline his rebellious sons, but it clearly says that he was a man after God's own heart. He repented and God forgave him for his failures but his battle against the Canaanite tribes wasn't a failure.

So what did they all do to David to warrant such barbarous actions by David?

# 1. Jesus Christ. Without a doubt in my mind.

Did anyone mention Albert Einstein ?

And I’m surprised no one mentioned Thomas Jefferson. Or Ben Franklin. Or that sorry POS Abe Lincoln.

I’ll also throw in Thomas Edison & Alexander Graham Bell.

And Sam Colt, Oliver Winchester. And of course, John Moses Browning.

You are forgetting W.C. Fields, far, far ahead of Murray, Chase, Berle, and Dangerfield.

L.W.

Someone forgot Mel Brooks,,

He even studied history and made a movie about it. Mostly about Great Men

Geno

PS, what about Grog.............or was it Lorp? Whoever cut their finger with a sharp obsidian flake when they broke the rock they were smashing a bone against to get the marrow out. Sure made killin' stuff easier for the human race.

PPS Yes, Grog might have been a few more years ago than 2000, but I read the title of the thread, there's the little word "or" in there along with history.:
"Ten most influential humans in history or of the last 2000 years"

Let's not forget..............CLM...............................conjunction lives matter.
