Probably so, I use Pro Shot Pro Gold, as that's what I use for the lugs.

Even plain 'ol wheel bearing grease I assume would be just fine.

After having a brand new Bat gall the threads, I pay a little more attention to cleanliness & plenty of lube.

Obviously I don't use that guy anymore.......

Yeah, probably.

I was comparing anti-seize to the grease aalf mentioned, reason being aalf does a lot more of this stuff and maybe ordinary grease would be better for whatever reason.

I was thinking of an old can of copper base C5-A I've been using on other stuff for years. There's probably enough left to use on a thousand barrels.

I have a small tube of anti-sieze now, but have used various options prior to that. As long as I’ve used SOMETHING I’ve never had an issue. Luckily I’ve never had any galling anyways, but there were a few barrels that took some extra force to pop free.

Excellent idea on incorporating the extra holes for the torque wrench into the vice, Carl.

I have several rifles with multiple barrels as I machine them myself. It saves lots of money using same stocks and actions. Barrels are full floated.

It looks like your barrels are full floated and are straight diameter. It is probably obvious to the true rifle loon but it might be helpful to some that are less knowledgeable: This concept won't work with all rifles. A tapered barrel cannot be removed with action still in the stock because of the tapered barrel and scope bell won't allow the thicker shank to go forward.

I have heard of BR guys having a hex machined on the end of their barrels for quick removal as some of them don't torque the barrels that tight.

My barrels aren’t straight diameter, but the channel in the chassis is pretty open which makes it easy. It’s a HEALTHY free float. If you have a thin contoured barrel, a closely matched inlet, and a low mounted scope you’re exactly right. In that situation you have to pull the scope, and if the stock contour inlet is very tight, the stock as well.

Would this work on a Rem action with a pinned lug?

It certainly should, though if you were transferring force through the stock it could transfer some through the pins. You’d want to be careful not to shear them.

Nice! Any pictures of the rifles being used?

I've not gotten into the barrel swapping game, but I can see the benefits, and could be persuaded with a little learning...

For those on the fence, I'm nearly through my first production run. I also have 2 cosmetic blems available for $100 + shipping, PM if your interested. I'll make another batch, but there will probably be some "out of stock" time.

Carl what barrel are you using? I’m new to PRS and have been shooting several local matches. In the near future I’m going to start gathering parts to build a rifle similar to yours. I have been researching actions and right now locked in on the Bighorn. Thanks

The barrel shown, which was my primary competition barrel last year, is a 26" Marksman contour w/ 1-7.5" twist chambered in 6 Dasher. I bought it through PVA, and I don't actually know the manufacturer because they use multiple suppliers and it wasn't specified.

I have two Proof Heavy Palma blanks ready to chamber for this season. I went a little heavier on the contour to move the balance point on my setup forward.

Thanks! At a match this past Sunday I was able to handle several rifles. I would be assisting shooters when exiting a stage by taking their rifle so they could exit safely. I handled some heavy barreled rifles.
