I’m looking at picking up a used Montana Rifle Company V2 Extreme in a 375 H&H. I just wondering how the rifles are and should I be aware of any issues?

I’ve had a Colorado Buck edition for about two years. The rifle is an honest .5 moa shooter with factory ammo. I haven’t had any issues with it, other than the fact that it’s a heavy s.o.b. However, the weight will be a benefit in .375h&h. Mine is a 7mm and has the Montana flats muzzle brake on it. The damn thing honestly kicks about like a .243......or less. It’s a good, rugged rifle IMHO.

Have 2 ,a custom 300 H&H mag and a Campfire special in 260 rem. No problems at all. Some complain their on the heavy side, not me.

All have been excellent quality and good shooters right out of the box. All shoot Barnes TTSX’s at a real 1/2 MOA. Accuracy improves steadily over the first 40 - 60 rounds.
Having said that, buying a used rifle always is a gamble depending on how the first owner took care of it, or didn’t.

I have experience with an X3 in 6.5X284. It's a really solid rifle and I doubt you would go wrong. I really like those rifles!

Great rifles, great stocks...very well finished barrels imho. Cant go wrong...X2 is the absolute best value on the market.

I have two, a X2 campfire special in 260 and a new X3 in 6.5 PRC. Both feed and function perfectly, and both shoot moa or better with factory ammo. Probably the best buy in a rugged conditions hunting rifle. All stainless, model 70 style trigger, field stripable bolt and properly bedded into a really tough stock.
I bet the 375 will be a great rifle. It's actually hard to think of a better rifle for dangerous bears.

I'm interested in the 6.5 PRC. What factory ammo are you shooting in it and at what velocity?
The lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part!

I am interested in seeing how that works out. Your gun in 6.5 PRC is my dream gun. I don't need one, but I will probably get one. Where are you in SW AL?

I got to chronograph the Hornady 143 ELDx factory load in my 24 inch barreled Montana this week end. Three shots in 87F averaged right at 3000 fps. That is what I was hoping for and means that this cartridge which has no more recoil than a 270 provides long range ballistics better than nearly everything in it's class. To get significantly more energy with flatter trajectory at long range targets, one has to go to something like a 300 Ultra or a 338 Lapua.

I picked up an X2 earlier this year in 7x57. It shot and functioned well, but was heavier than I like. I did not keep it.

I bought a x2 in 7mm08. Shoots great , built well. Just touch heavier than I wanted even after having the factory cut the 24 inch barrel back to 22 when they built it. If I had waited a few years to buy it I think I would be well satisfied with the new X3 which is lighter.
Life can be rough on us dreamers.

I've got a 25-06 x2. Even though it's heavy I love it. Shoots tight groups and functions perfectly.
