I enjoy my guns and the ability to own them, as well as my freedom too much to risk losing everything because I broke federal shipping laws. (Or any other laws for that matter...)

It's just not worth it.

They have stuff now that sniffs or red-tags certain things without even opening the package.

My mistake! Do not ship USPS!

ONLY GROUND CARRIERS.with appropriate ORM-D labeling.

Stuff that sniffs? We need to talk to Ingwe about this. When sniffer mutts smell gunpowder they ought to stand up on their hind legs, and bark/say "Hell ya, Ship it!"

The frustrating part is they tell you they are not allowed to tell you what you need to do correct it under Federal law. In my class they said ORM-D was appropriate for small shipments of consumer products But the books we were using were 2016 and 2015. The shipping book said on the cover it was subject to update weekly.

A few days ago you had a Hazmat class based out of 2015-2016 books...........Please tell me who that fuqking genius was.

I ship and receive small amounts of loaded ammo for my collection. You can't mail it legally through the USPS. Use FedX or UPS ground. The want each cartridge wrapped up individually and I use factory cartridge boxes with the factory dividers, either plastic or foam and put these in a larger box. Fill the big box with filler, paper, foam, ect. Tape it very well. Some stores will ship and others will not. Don't be surprised if the counter person refuses you, just ask them to check with another employee. They even provide the stickers for me. It cost more that USPS flat rate boxes. I would not want to take the chance mailing restricted stuff.

Ammo is not hazmat, although loose primers and powder is. Ammo is stabilized. Ammo used to be ORM-D but now it's stamped Limited Quantity. There's no reason to inform anyone of the exact contents. It's the same category as household aerosols, etc.

The FED EX and UPS shops I stopped at were both franchises. I'm going to go to the UPS hub, which is corporate owned. I think that will get this moving. How do I access those ORMD labels?

I just looked up the UPS website. It has to go through a Corporate hub location and specifically says the "stores" can't ship it.

Its not illegal to send it USPS, its against their policy because quite frankly, most of their workers can’t pass a Haz Dec class to certify packages.

By law the “shipper” is responsible, the USPS, FedX, UPS carrier is the shipper and you the sender cannot be held responsible because technically the certifier has to certify what the package contains. You don’t qualify to be a “certifier”. The penalty and fines are stiff as hell for a certifier that screws up. The only legal way to certify correctly is for each package to be opened and verified by a CERTIFIER, that ain’t gonna happen.

Ammo does NOT have to go ground either.

The whole damn purpose of the program is for compatibility of items most especially on aircraft and maritime. The maritime regs are over 10,000 pages. Its not a program set up to punish anyone except the certifier in the event of a mishap, thats it.

If I were you, I’d not pertend to be a certifier by marking the box ORM-D, your ignorance is best.
