Bought one with the 21" barrel I hunt in a lead free zone so first thing I tried was Federal Power-Shok Ammunition 243 Winchester 85 Grain Copper Hollow Point Lead-Free. It shoots close to 1" at 100 yards found it on sell for 16.99 a box at mass ammo so I ordered 6 boxes. Once that is gone I will start reloading.

I would PM David Walter FTW....

He's supposed to have bought one, but I haven't seen any good, public field reports from him yet.

I bought the one Mule Deer wrote the article about.

40 gr of RL17 under a 105 Hornady BTHP, CCI 200 and Winchester brass shoots right at 3/4" at 100 yards. John's data is below.

To be clear, you bought an identical rifle, or the one he tested? I thought he kinda liked it.

I bought THE rifle he wrote about from him.

Although I’m not sure why that matters in answering the OP’s question.

It doesn't, but now I know you own a "celebrity" gun.

I was hoping to find out how the 1/7 twist stabilized the longer heavier bullets and if anyone had tried the 105 Barnes in it. The table above says it should do fine. Thanks

It doesn't. Just curious. I thought maybe he was going to hang on to it. They do own a couple Melvins, so maybe they're spoiled.

Anyway, enjoy.

If I didn't already have 500+ of the Hornady 105s, I'd probably give the 115 Berger a try.
