I purchesed a 28 Nosler 48 Nosler Long Range rifle a few months back. It was a piece of crap that was throated wrong had a short mag and wouldn't shoot a sub 6" group at 100 yds. Nosler agreed and to their credit refunded my money in full
No more dicking around this time
I ordered a Piercecision Rifle in 28 Nosler specs as follow
Kelbly atlas tactical action, Manners eh1 in swamp camo, Proof carbon barrel, self timing 5 port “Muscle” brake, Bix’n Andy Tacsport trigger, Hawkins bottom metal and a Bushnell 4x18 LRHSi scope bedded into some Hawkins rings.
It is throated for 195gr Bergers
Scheduled to arrive next week

Great choice! Ryan is an amazing gunsmith and knows the 28 very well. I'm sure it will be a shooter.

RL33 and the 195s hammer in my rifle. Retumbo and N570 are also good choices.

Dan,

Too bad about the Nosler but sounds like they treated you right except for the lost load development time. Good luck with this new one. When does it go to the field on the first hunt?

Dan, that thing is sweet.... My boss just had a 30 nosler built similar. Stiller in a Mcmillan with proof CF topped by a NF 5-22. He promptly took it to Africa and had 13, 1 shot kills. He's sold.

I always thought for the money those nosler rifles would shoot good with the components they build with. That is a great looking rifle Ryan built, everything I read appears that guy has the 28 nailed. ........

With the Proof cf barrel and CF Manners it’s probably +/- 9#.

Mine is similar but built on a 700 action and edge game Scout. 9lb 4oz as pictured with the 5.5-22 nxs.

Is anyone else finding it uncomfortable to carry a rifle afield in a Manners, MCM or other furniture maker where the stock has a “gooseneck” pistol grip? My 26N is in a Manners MCS-T2A. I like the stock when I’m behind the scope. But carrying it around by the pistol grip feels awkward compared to all my other stocks. Is it just something you get used to in time? 😎

Per Ryan Pierce 7lbs. 12oz. plus rings and scope. Rings = 4oz., 3-18x44 LRHSi = 27oz.

Dan’s should be 9lbs 11oz. unloaded. So yea, 10lbs.

Yessir. I’ve come to prefer a steeper, more closed grip.

Heading back out tomorrow, but 86.5 of RL33 gave me the best accuracy so far. .5” 4 shot group from a bipod with an LRHS at 100 yards. I’m playing with Retumbo to see how it does and also trying some different seating depths.

That's a very nice rifle, much like the one I had built by Alamo Precision Rifles of Hurst, Tx.

I may post a thread about it...

Awesome rifle and great group!!
195s and RL33? Also do you always shoot from a lead sled? They are IMO junk and hard to get cheek weld on.

Been talking to Ryan and I think I'm going to go with a 30-28 on his recommendation. Similar recipe to yours, Dan, but I'll likely go with a Nightforce NXS.

I cant stand it, and do not use that type of grip angle stocks. I love shooting a thumb hole stock, but hate to carry it as well. I just stick to standard style stock and grip angles.
