The world's best heart surgeon ought to be making far, far, far, more than the world's best QB. And more than a whole passel of the world's best other things, too, but it's not how the world works anymore.

I never got the whole "what people will pay" justification. A whole lot of people would willingly play very entertaining football for a whole lot less money than players make today. Viewers would still be quite entertained, and profit margins would be that much higher, so normal economic principles simply don't always apply to major sports.

I’m done with the NFL for good. The players have shown their true colors. No rule change can undo that.

Honestly, I doubt the players have changed at all. Management castrated themselves at the alter of the political correctness Gods.

There's your first mistake "ought". You don't get to set the value of other people's worth. The free market does. If you EVER buy into the "what ought to be " crowd, you have given away your own right to determine your own worth.

Hmmm...not so much subscribing to a group, as stating that I don't think someone throwing a leather-enclosed pocket of air holds as much significance in life as someone who can save many many lives due to a skill they possess. Then there is the irony of saying that we don't get to set others' worth, due to making statements about others' worth for trying to set others' worth. Interesting. Kind of like saying to someone that they should make their own decisions, when that prompt itself is attempting to make a decision for them...

Also, having and or stating priorities robs me of my own worth?

As well...the Free Market is, above all else...people setting other people's (and their skills) worth.

The team is obviously racist for paying a white guy so much money. I think the rest of the team should kneel during the anthem because it's America's fault.

I don't give a flying rat [bleep] about the NFL or any other stupid sport league where people pay to see a grown man chase a little ball around a field. It's the most asinine thing on earth IMHO. It shows just how fugged up human beings are where they value someone who does that kind of idiotic crap more than a person who performs a service that actually benefits mankind in general...

Tell you what: next time you go to the doctor, you "ought" to pay him $167,000 a day. Out of your own pocket.

After you do, you can run your mouth all you like.

“Fugk liberals, they are idiots and support socialism!”

“Some people make too much money.”

“Celebrities and athletes make too much money, especially compared to more useful contributors to society.”

“They don’t deserve that money.”

Good lord. The greasy liberals don’t understand economics either but at least they know they are against capitalism.

Okay the guy is good, but pay for play has become extreme. Back in the 60's Jerry Kramer got a $5,000. raise and the guys in the locker room wouldn't even talk to him.

Same amount throwing, running, blocking or kneeling, right?

That's the irony of it, nothing any NFL or NBA player does is useful. What they do is as useful as a couple of six year olds playing catch in the back yard. A mindless distraction and entertaining, but in the end nothing was invented, no disease was cured, and nothing useful in any realistic sense of the word was accomplished.

As long as people are dumb enough to watch it, the salaries will grow.....To me it's just a bunch of rich kids playing a game. I don't watch it and never have.

They weren't rich before playing the game. That whole kneeling thing isn't about the anthem or anything else other than the root cause of what the next civil war will be. Racism is alive and growing and it isn't the white folks who are pushing it.

It's just Capitalism at work, if he was a Socialist he'd be happy with a Participation award. Well, he might not be happy but that's what he'd get.

The Entertainment Industry generates a bunch of cash but...

Some of them were rich before they got there, that's part of how they got there..... now they are just a bunch of spoiled, rich brats playing a game.
