Having an issue with an X-bolt magazine in 7mm-08; it seems the recoil is moving the rounds in the magazine forward enough where the bolt (when cycled) goes over the rounds rather than picking up the rim.

I am thinking/hoping a new magazine will provide the cure but wanted to put it out to members if anyone has had this issue and the fix?

Is it latching in place properly/fully?

I thought the X-Bolt magazines had a shoulder which contacts the shoulder of the cartridge to keep the cartridge from moving forward under recoil . . . ?

I checked the magazine a couple times while shooting to make sure it was securely latched. When it failed to cycle, I would pull the mag, knock it back in my palm to move the rounds reward and return in the magazine box.

I also check the spring but nothing was loose or rattling inside the magazine.

It's a great shooter, and hopefully a new mag will do the trick.

Do you know for sure you are using the right magazine for that particular cartridge?

Is there any damage to the magazine that would affect its functioning?
