I ordered a t3 lite and have never bought a tikka before. What size rings come with rifle? Also what size scope should fit properly? I was talking with a buddy that said he read somewhere the screws were weak in the factory rings, should I look for different rings or will the factory rings be good on a 223?
I plan to put a 40 or 42mm scope on it. Thanks for any info

Factory rings will be fine, the screws are a little soft, I replaced them with screws from Ace Hardware, total cost of around $2.00. I have had the factory rings on a 308 Win for around 5 years with no issues.
If it is a T3X I have read that they do not come with ringss, in that case you could post a WTB and find some T3 factory rings or go with aftermarket ones.

If I'm looking at those rifles right they all wear 40mm scopes? Looks like a 42mm should clear fine?

I had a 42mm on a different Tikka, same rings, plenty of clearance.

I have lots of factory ring sets hanging around. If you need some, send me a pm and we'll figure out how to get them to you.

drover What fits in the factory rings? I don't recall the size but Ace Hardware has bins with metric screws, just take along a screw from the rings and compare it to the ones in the bin. I replaced both the ring screws and the crossbolt screw. drover

drover Drover, Was your Tikka blued or stainless? The 2 stainless tikka's I have the screws IMO are stronger than the blued tikka's. I've had zero problems with the stainless screws. Just my observation that was reached by continued changing of scopes on various tikka's Trystan

Good bullets properly placed always work, but not everyone knows what good bullets are, or can reliably place them in the field

Milled Talley lightweight lows Those milled Talleys look nice. Too bad Talley wouldn't take the hint. I use Burris 2pc steel short picatinnys on my 223 Varmint. I like the versatility of the extra slot on each base.
